TRANSHUMANISM: DARPA TO CREATE ROBOTS TO “HELP IN A ...

I received this article on Alex Jones' Infowars website from about five different people, and I wanted to share it here, because it raises all of the issues I discussed in yesterday's blog concerning transhumanism:

Pentagon Developing Autonomous Humanoid Robots To “Perform Evacuation Operations”

This, I submit, is that "dark" side of transhumanism that so profoundly disturbed Dr. de Hart and I as we were researching and writing the transhumanism book (and more often than not, discussing things that we discovered, rather than researching and writing!).

Here the dark prospects are fairly clear: imagine such a robotic technology not in the hands of Will Smith in the movie adaptation of Isaac Asimov's "I, Robot", but, say, in the hands of a Nikita Khrushchev, commissar in the Ukraine under Josef Stalin, and responsible for rounding up and deporting millions of Russian kulaks from their farmland and deporting them to the gulags.  Or imagine such a heartless, programmable technology in the hands of an Adolf Hitler or Heinrich Himmler, programmed to collect DNA samples from random populations, to analyze said samples on the spot (and after all, our robotic space probes already do this type of on-the-spot analysis) to determine if it contains any "typically Jewish genetic markers", and, if so, to round up the "offenders" and pack them into cattle cars to be sent off to the Konzentrationslagern.

Opposition to such robots could only be in the form of actual resistance, for in the current state of programming, any argumentation with such a machine in the performance of its programmed task would be more or less futile.

Or imagine such machines showing up on your doorstep, requiring you, and everyone else in your neighborhood, to evacuate immediately, because a politician somewhere has exercised eminent domain for some project, and needs your, and your neighbor's, land. Again, in such a circumstance, argument would be futile.

Or, on a much lighter plane, imagine such a technology in the hands of your local friendly law enfarcement agency, laying speed traps for the unwary driver drifting 0.7 mph over the posted speed limit. No argument, no human ability to reason or judge according to the situation, just a ticket, a fine, and (possibly) a robot judge in a robot court with a robot stenographer. "Please enter your PIN now. Please key in, or say, your plea now, followed by the pound sign. Please pay your fine now. Please select credit or debit."

Of course, such society is  draconian, and probably will not be tolerated simply because too many people - even among the elite - would find it irritating at best and inhuman at worst. But again, like it or not, the technology is coming, and it will change our world. The computers we now use as a matter of course in our daily lives were a mere 20 years ago, for most of us, still a dream, a toy, a technological fascination, perhaps even a boon to the performance of some task in our lives. Now, they are an essential component of modern life.

So too, the robot... it will begin, as did computers, being the plaything and preserve of the military and corporations (which already have them), but it will end with robots being a part of our lives, for good, and ill.

See you on the flip side.

If you thought that drones unlawfully killing foreign citizens was scary, well this is a little more:

    Note the “SS” in SSAM

I think the AI gone wrong scenario is the least of the problems. “Human” intelligence is already evil enough.

You got THAT right and straight with one
exception, there’s NO “intelligence” about it

Soon to come! Get in on the excitement, track robot Drone Strikes on your Android, from a position in your cozy lazy-boy recliner. But, for now:

Apple confirmed Thursday that it has rejected a controversial app called Drones+ from its App Store. The app is designed to alert users whenever someone has been killed in a U.S. drone strike. The Drone+ app was developed by Josh Begley (New York) and has been turned down by Apple three times. He recently told Wired that he’s “back to the drawing board” on his idea, but he’s considering trying to launch the app on the Android Market.

There seems to be no bottom the depths of depravity!

An example of ‘Robots to Help in Times of Crisis’.
    See Micro Insect Drones:
    http://veritasradio.blogspot.com/2012/05/mini-insect-robocops-engineers.html

Notice that the target of the Nile virus laden buzzer, is the over 50 crowd. Since the magnificent mental giants in their omniscient wizardry, DARPA, are always seeking out more marvelous ways by which to dispense of fellow humans; have already created a mimicry of the mosquito in mechanical ‘drone’ format, how do we know that this too isn’t some sinister plot by which to dispose of those, who Henry Kissinger purportedly referred to so lovingly as ‘the useless eaters’?

    Food and Education people!

These are the two biggest functional elements in the Transhumanists ‘agenda’.

Fill our food with additives, colours and preservatives= ADD, ADHD, AUTISM, LEARNING DISORDERS, LESSER THINKING ABILITIES, LOWER IQ.

Then create ‘educationalist’ based school programmes=dumbed down education, higher bureaucracy, systems that service and accredit systems-not knowledge and hypothesising, instant technology with high levels of useless information.

Dumbed down and intellectually crippled. Resistance is futile…..

Joseph- how much of the Trans-humanism book is about AI? It seems like a minor point in light of the other technology you have discussed. Consciousness needs a biological antenna to draw analogically from the non-local source field of qualitative substance. Computers are very limited. Deterministic machines aren’t the future except for replacing the work we don’t want to do anyway. It’s the designing of life and a living vehicle that can move through hyperspace that the Gods seemed to be obsessed with. Isn’t the idea that they only created us as a dumbed down slave and kept the good trans-physical technology for themselves. Isn’t that part of the elite agenda? They got the ships, but one needs a fleshy vehicle to really fly free. Is the trans-humanism book going to explore any of that higher-dimensional DNA stuff New Agers seem to be guessing about?. Everything you write seems to hint at what should be the real heart of this science: the alchemy of the Divinised body. Im just hoping to see you tackle the question more fully.

I would be more inclined to buy this book if there are chapters on modern cloning and genetic misuse in certain countrys.

let’s look at the bright side. What if robots or trans-humans achieve a degree of Consciousness which causes them to see the Universe as Infinite Love and thus they begin to live in this mode and shower all in their path with this love?

    A Love Police.

“By Executive Order, I decree all citizens shall henceforth skip to work. And if they ride a bus or train, they must hold hands with their seat passenger and together share their Infinite Oneness.”

Something like Gort in “The Day the Earth Stood Still,” monitoring idiotic human aggression and preventing wars? Possibly a nice thought!

I noticed that so many of you seem to be resigned,
even looking forward, to your future nightmare or
    nightmare future.

Nanites have been around a long time and have
been chemtrailed everywhere since the early 90s
    or before.

[Dennis Kucinich is the only government official
that ever tried to fight the chemtrailing]

So I think the attitude, seeming apathy or worse,
    is a Totbot phenom.

Yet he caved to the Insurance Care Bill.
      (AKA mainstream speak “Obama Care”)
      But so did Bernie Sanders.

Well I’m sure he was ‘discouraged’ at some point,
        BEFORE he ran for president…………………
or you would be saying ‘Dennis Who?’

        • Robert Barricklow on August 23, 2012 at 1:16 pm

Any who stand in the way of the money powers that be, are taken down, one way or another.
Even if they vote, occassionally, as told to by the party.

I guess that DOES make me shpeshel……..

Perhaps it’s defeatist to observe that much of our governmental structure is already effectively robotic – unthinking, unemotional, and impervious to either compassion or logic. Cf. endless incidents of uniformed police tazering (sometimes to death) cripples in wheelchairs, the elderly, elementary school children, and others who “present a threat” to law enforcement. Maybe we’d have more of a chance against a machine.

  10. Robert Barricklow on August 22, 2012 at 8:44 am

And I suppose some will be programmed(at some time), to be rebel robots; a resistance robotic force, for free will.

The possibility’s pipeline, limited only by imagination’s resistance.
