THE SPACE OPERA CONTINUES: MORE METEORS AND ASTEROIDS TO WORRY ABOUT ...

...the Space Opera continues, folks, while down here on the terra firma of the coming Venetian Space Empire, folks are being told to be worried about asteroids and meteors.... be very worried:

Chelyabinsk fireball shows meteor threat bigger than originally thought, scientists say

This is intriguing from so many angles and raises so many "socio-political" issues that one doesn't know where to begin.

But perhaps one should begin here: if one wanted to nudge along one's nefarious plans for some sort of "world government", the way to do it, as President Ronald Reagan repeatedly suggested, was for some sort of "threat" to occur to Earth from outer space. Surely then, he told his counterpart Mikhail Gorbachev, the USSA and USSR would join forces and save everybody (or something like that). Mr. Gorbachev's response was equally if not more illuminating: "Not just yet." It wasn't the idea that Mr. Gorbachev objected to, merely the timing (after all, at that time, the Soviet Union's finances were teetering on extinction).  And Mr. Gorbachev had reason to be concerned. Not only were those pesky UFOs turning off and on American ICBMs, but in one now famous incident, they had managed to do the same to some Russian ICBMs in the Ukraine, to the point of starting the launch sequences, much to the horror of the officers in charge of the battery.

So the problem was, and is, how to leverage a massive military effort and buildup in space? Answer: threats of asteroid collisions with Earth. How to ratchet up concerns? Lob a few at Earth, blow them up, and then, well, then tell everyone "oops, there's a whole lot more of them out there that we should be worried about than we first thought."  We need lots of fancy things - lasers, particle beams, space-based electromagnetic rail guns, a few big sized thermonukes, a few plasma cannon, to blast these things apart if necessary, and bore some neat nifty holes in the more cooperative asteroids so we can mine them (think of those nicely symmetrical holes that "appeared" in Guatemala and elsewhere a few years ago. See Guatemalan Sink Hole. Not to worry folks. The UK's Daily Mail and many other outlets have reassured us that this neat, nifty, almost perfectly symmetrical sink hole, was the result merely of a tropical storm. And it probably was, Nothing to see here or be concerned about. Move along.).

Now, if you're like me, I suspect you're entertaining the high octane speculation that this doesn't quite look like an ordinary sink hole and that maybe "someone" sent a little message by boring a big shiny hole in the Earth, that the Chleyabinsk meteor explosion and the calls for asteroid defense issued by the Russian government a month before the event, and now the sudden "discovery" that there's a hole...er...whole lot more asteroids to be worried about than before and we should really get busy and beef up planetary defenses, is more than a little disturbingly coincidental. It's more like the behavior of people toying with ideas of planetary invasions or the potential there-for. (Maybe they mined someone else's asteroid already, and someone else didn't like it too much, and they're not telling us that someone else is throwing their asteroids at us, or threatening to do so. You never know... But not to worry. The ever-resourceful Japanese have come up with a workable space cannon as their country melts into a radioactive glow around them. Scale that puppy up to enormous size, build a few space siege mortars in near Earth orbit, et voila, Mitsubishi-Krupp-Lockheed-Armstrong-Vickers and Assoc., A.G. enters the space age).

Then there's the UN-sponsored initiative to have everyone that's anyone in space build an asteroid tracking network preparatory to building the neat toys that can obliterate them (they probably already have those toys folks). It's a nifty way to present a united front, on matters of defense... and....well, diplomacy. As the by-now well-known Von Braun/Rosin Affidavit "timetable" has it: first Communists, then terrorists, then nations of concern, then asteroids, and finally ETs. We're already well into "asteroid", and, has anyone been noticing, the spike of movies and tv shows having to do with extraterrestrial invasions and threats lately, or is it just me?

See you on the flip side.

Some Russian scientists are suggesting that developing asteroid’s interiors might be more useful than mining them for resources … e.g., for use as space bases, outposts, and as a means of transportation to neighboring planets … we may not have to wait too long … NASA is planning to put astronauts on one by 2021. Since some of them are already known and named I wonder who gets first pick on the ‘good ones’ … planetary real estate offerings, lottery, auction, first come first served? … Space politics is going to be verrrrry interesting!

I guess they have planets that the elite can go to. Never mind that Japan is glowing in the dark and the ancient food chain, the ocean, is turning into a radioactive scene of death.

The observation that you made in the discussion with Fitts about earth being a blue gem in a vast space of non-life that ET would want, maybe not!

A propos, I’m surprised you haven’t yet mentioned JPL’s recently released photo of “the day the earth smiled” photo montage of Saturn from Cassini.

    http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/news.php?release=2013-329

This clearly faked montage of earth seen as a dot with the black Saturn Death Star looming over it is a nasty bit of occultism, pasted over with a smiley-face caption for mass consumption. What a surprise it comes out of JPL…

I could ‘nt believe the name of that storm – Agatha – read AGARTHA the mythical city beneath the earth populated by spiritual masters who, at the right moment will surface and battle the materialistic forces of Schambhallah! – obviously using a viril gun!

Historically militaries have had a nasty knack of committing regicide, what better way to avoid employing dogs of war than to have a remote controlled killing platform way up in space?

Makes the Macedonian spears look like pocket knifes.

    Hello everybody….

I’m your NSA shill-troll de jour.

I just want to assure you that all those images of UFOs are photoshopped either to add or eliminate them, depending on our mood.

We are only interested in confusing you, nothing more — no disclosure, no suppression — just confusion.

Meanwhile, we are stockpiling vast quantities of Krypton Nitride that we get from the Dracos in our Pan-Cosmic Trade Agreement ( milk-carton kids by the crate load in exchange for mo’ better drugs ).

We will introduce it via Obamacare. You’ll love it ! A single dose of Krypton Nitride will keep you high for life !

    Don’t worry — Be happy !

Except there one major problem the way the War Lords that run or try to run this planet have treated the rest of us. What there to lose if we can get a better deal from the ETs why not stab in the back all those bastards who have screwing us for millenniums.

OK, so they loot the last of the earth’s resources, this breakaway civilization, and do what with it? Unless they have the technology to locate and get to another habitable world, where they would be welcomed, they’re stuck here with the rest of us.

If we’re speculating, it seems to me more likely that there would be various factions that make up this breakaway civilization, competing to attain goals that might be counterproductive to other factions.

And, along with factions, I’d have to speculate that our ET buddies might could be playing factions off against each other, either for their own enjoyment or for their own agendas, or both, which may or may not take human well-being into account.

“We’re already well into “asteroid”, and, has anyone been noticing, the spike of movies and tv shows having to do with extraterrestrial invasions and threats lately, or is it just me?”

It’s not just you (and it is just you).

While the relevant memes currently pervade all mediums of mass and mainstream media, it is important to note that these very same memes have, for decades, been ubiquitous in videogames, comic books, anime/cartoon narratives, and other “juvenile” sectors of mass media.

Anyone born Post-Nintendo likely grew up with a notable fluency in (or desensitization to) these very memes which are suddenly ubiquitous in mass media and global political theatre.

Platonic Fascist Philosopher-Kings sell the present to the future, first: “We will [in place of mothers and nurses] tell their children the authorized [fictions] only. [We will] fashion the mind with such tales… but most of those which are now in use must be discarded.”

Even so, the persistent (and escalating) frequency and magnitude-of-expression of the memes in media is clearly a cause for concern.

We may wonder, “Why the sudden (and directed) escalation? From whence stems the Fascist Eagles’ impetus for control of a militarized near-Earth Space?”

Aristophanes might reply: “Well, then, isn’t this a staging area for Birds?

…You might say it’s a location for them—
there’s lots of business here, but everything
keeps moving through this zone, so it’s now called
a staging place. But if you settled here,
fortified it, and fenced it off with walls,
this staging area could become your state.
Then you’d rule all men as if they’re locusts
and annihilate the Gods with famine,
    just like in Melos.”

What exactly would be the supposed goal of a breakaway civilization getting into space? Even if some group or even several groups back-engineered ET technology and were whisking around the solar system — which appears to be at least plausible — what are they doing out there? I turn to the Roman adage: Cui Bono. Who benefits from having interplanetary craft? Does it make them money? Does it give them the option of living off-world? There doesn’t appear to be much habitable outside of Mars, and even it looks pretty grim.

  13. Robert Barricklow on November 13, 2013 at 10:22 am

Not only do they have ancient writings mapping-out past, present & future; they’ve also got some of their artifacts as well, giving “elites” access to a few ancient technologies. Are “they” following in the footsteps of our ancient cousins? Are “they”, then, making the same mistakes? And what of the “slaves/ignorant” populations of those bygone days of long ago, in this galaxy, in this solar system?

Somebody needs to not only write a better script for all; but…

    …Make it so.

    • Robert Barricklow on November 13, 2013 at 3:36 pm

      Speaking of writing a script(synthetically?)
      http://io9.com/genetically-modified-animals-will-save-the-world-1463801439
Something tells me this has a bad ending,; but what doesn’t, in these engineered times?

      • Margaret on November 16, 2013 at 11:57 pm

Same here Robert … I appreciate the designer’s creative thinking but question the idea of using biosynthetic/artificial (living?) creatures to “re-wild” nature … and the too-altruistic belief that exploitative corporations would have any sort of moral/social conscience (esp. when trade treaties reward maximizing profits above all else). We can only hope in the future, as planetary consciousness unfolds, not to create the problems in the first place and to work intuitively with natural processes.

Here is an hypothesis which illustrates my difficulty sorting out these phenomena: Let’s suppose – again, hypothetically – that the solar system is subjected to cometary/meteor showers on a long cycle basis (say thousands of years) which are dangerous enough to endanger the planet.

Further, let’s suppose that such a phenomenon could be gleaned from examination of ancient texts supplemented with hard science – ice core samples, for instance, or other assessment techniques which may or may not be mainstream.

Finally, let’s say that such a cyclical phenomenon is upon us.

What is a breakaway civilization to do? Well, it does all of the things so ably documented by Dr. Farrell and others: construction of massive underground facilities for the elite/chosen – a project requiring (probably) decades; development of all sorts of exotic space-based technology, etc.; creation of the deep financial structures necessary to fund them; and (in the minds of the Breakaways) a suitable means of managing and distracting the population(s).

Were I advising the breakaways, I may even propose ginning up an asteroid scare and we move closer to said showers – after all, they are “up there” and visible. Late in the game, this serves the purposes of the breakaways well. One final round of looting, one last push to finish the job. And true, the ET phenomenon may play into this as well, and in any number of ways.

I am not suggesting this as the proper interpretation of the recent asteroid wave (though the idea that we are experiencing an uptick in fireballs, asteroids, and so forth seems to have at least some factual basis). I am merely highlighting the difficulty I have in settling on the proper interpretation of what I can observe – in the skies and in the actions of these shadowy figures behind the markets and the “news.”

Further Material: Some very interesting work has been done on comets by James McCanney (former Cornell astronomer, and sufficiently harassed by the conventional academic world to have gained credibility with me), by Victor Clube & William Napier (if you can get their works), and D.S. Allan and J.B. Delair, both well qualified in the field. More than anything, I was impressed with the substantial damage potentially wrought by cometary near-misses and by merely passing through the tail of a large comet. Finally, independent (and controversial) researcher Laura Knight-Jadcyzk’s recent books on comets do a good job of assembling these and other sources and pointing to historical records in support of the idea of cyclical cometary impacts.

Dr. Farrell, I am a new registrant and am deeply impressed by your work. Do keep going…

    • RAJM on November 13, 2013 at 12:18 pm

Anyone have either of Victor Clube’s books for less than 3 figures?

    • Frankie Calcutta on November 13, 2013 at 8:07 pm

I concur Odysseus. Cometary catastrophes are cyclical and set human civilization back time and time again. 3150 BC, 2345 BC, 1628 BC, and 1159 BC– just to name a few. Add to this our unstable Sun… you get the picture. What’s an elite to do when they discover how dangerous living on the surface of the Earth really is? Burrow underground and prepare defenses. My suggestion to the breakaways is to follow the example of our neighbors on Jupiter and envelop the entire Earth in a gas sheath hundreds of thousands of miles thick. I suspect this is what they devised many moons ago to give themselves some modicum of safety and durability. I’m no astrochemist, but I would wager this defends them from comets, solar outbursts, toxic stellar dust, and meddlesome aliens as well as intrusive plasma beings. The latter being possibly the greatest hindrance to any carbon based entity’s attempt at tranquility, independence and evolution. Interesting that the theorized dark matter counterpart of physical Earth in which these plasma beings swim is equal in proportion to the gas ocean surrounding the Earth sized rock at the center of Jupiter. Is Jupiter’s gas sheath serving as the no man’s land for plasma beings? How liberating this must be.

On the bright side, to get to the end of the Dr Strangelove’s list, they’ve got to do some sort of Disclosure.

Unless it is immediately followed by planet-wide mandatory lobotomies (wouldn’t put it past them), there’s gonna be lotsa splainin’ to do (popcorn optional).
