TIDBIT: OH, BY THE WAY, THEY WERE SPYING ON THE POPE TOO

Oh, by the way, they were spying on the pope too:

Italian magazine says U.S. spies listened to pope, Vatican says unaware

Thank goodness the papacy never spies on anyone... *cough hack wheeze*

I would like to point out a small detail within that story that keeps getting overlooked — and worse — misrepresented in the headlines being circulated. Both that Reuters account and the parallel UK Guardian story say that the spying went on “”up UNTIL the start of the conclave that elected Francis ….” It says UNITL, not THROUGH the Conclave.

Couple that statement with the opinion voiced by Congressman Rand Paul the very next day, which was that the NSA is even tapping President Obama. Quote: “He has a cell phone, and, in fact, my guess is that they have collected data on the president’s phone.”
    (from: http://beforeitsnews.com/r2/?url=http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/362796/paul-nsa-could-be-spying-obama-robert-costa )

The conclusion that I draw from both statements is: 1). the President does not give the orders to the NSA, and 2). the Jesuit Order does give the orders to the NSA as they had no need to continue the wire-taps once the decision had been determined behind closed doors that their man would be the next Pope.
