TUNNELS FOUND AT TEOTIHUACAN

Yesterday I blogged about the proverbial "they" who appeared to be looking for "stuff" in the Great Pyramid of Giza. Well, now we move half a world away to the Valley of Mexico and Teotihuacan: Archeologists find 120m Tunnel Below Teotihuacan What interests me here once again is the simultaneous bow both to the research efforts of those outside the normal archaeological community and to the conventional "everything-is-religion" paradigm of modern archaeology. The article notes first that Maxican archaeologist Sergio Gomex Chavez  is at least aware of the view that Teotihuacan "was built … [Read more...]

HIEROGLYPHS FOUND IN SHAFT OF THE GREAT PYRAMID

Well... all I can say is wow! I am somewhat breathless after reading the following linked article, and my mind is racing with all sorts of ideas: Strange Signs Found at Egypt\'s Pyramid of Giza Where to begin? Well, first of all, note the dateline of the article: May 29, 2011, well after the Egyptian uprisings and the departure of one Zahi Hawass as minister of antiquities. Then we have the even more astonishing statement of Philip J. King of Harvard University's Egyptology department that "The big question is the purpose of these tunnels.... There are architectural explanations, … [Read more...]

INFRARED DISCOVERS NEW EGYPTIAN PYRAMIDS

infrared

I thought this was very interesting from any number of perspectives: Egyptian pyramids found by infra-red satellite images What I find so compelling about this is that first of all it is confirmation of the fact that radar tomography is indeed being used to find and identify archaeological sites hitherto unknown or unexplored. It opens the possibility that similar imaging was done in, well, Libya for example, or South America, where sites lay under the jungle overgrowth and very possibly even underground, or Mesopotamia, Persia...  ... Israel .... ....Well, if you're paying attention, … [Read more...]

PYRAMIDS IN ANTARCTICA NOW?

antarctica_pyramid

Well now there's talk all over the internet about pyramids in Antarctica. What appears to be causing all the discussion is this picture: Frankly, I think we're looking at plain ordinary mountains here, albeit ones of unusual apparent symmetry. But suppose we ARE looking at pyramids (and I think the size of these mountains would preclude that, but that's just me), or, to put it differently, supposed there WERE pyramids in Antarctica? What would it mean? Well, for one thing, it would confirm the speculations of many Atlantologists (including, incidentally, the Nazis), who believe that the … [Read more...]

THE PYRAMID PROBLEM

OK... has anyone noticed something funny going on with pyramids the last  - oh, say - twenty to thirty years? First we have the Chinese government, which does not even like to talk about its big earthen pyramids, and from the way they react when questioned about them, one gets the impression that they wish they just weren't there. Then, there's Zani ...er...Zahi Hawass, walling off the Giza plateau so that no one can gain entry without his express knowledge and permission. Supposedly this was to protect the site from vandals and other crazies and, from that vantage point, it makes a lot of … [Read more...]

EGYPT, ANTIQUITIES, LOOTING, AND HAWASS

Well well... look who has been implicated in the Arab world for looking Egypt's antiquities during the uprisings in Cairo: Hawass Implicated in Museum Looting I find it very interesting that the article seems to focus on a number of things: 1) the creation of vast fraudulent antiquities projects requiring large funding, that resulted in nothing; 2) covert DNA testing on mummies, with pre-conceived results that were rejected by some Egyptians involved; 3) the theft of antiquities seems to have been an on-going affair under Hawass' "reign" as Egypt's antiquities Tsar; 4) there … [Read more...]

UPDATE ON EGYPTIAN MUSEUM LOOTING

Well, it's now "official" according to the following article; Egypt's National Museum was apparently looted by its own security guards: Fears grow for the safety of Egypt\'s ancient treasures. This lies in the background of President Mubarak's appointment of Egypt's antiquities Tsar, Zahi Hawass, to a cabinet level post. Given Hawass' own background and connections to the western elites, this is not a surprising move, but it is one that subtly implies that elite's interest in Egyptian antiquities. The specter of the National Museum's own security guards being involved in its looting … [Read more...]

THE RACE IS ON FOR INVISIBILITY

In my book The Giza Death Star Destroyed I cited at length the Babylonian "creation epic", the Enuma Elish (p. 42 ff.). In my interpretation, the Enuma Elish is less a "creation epic" as it is a "cosmic war epic," as Marduk is outfitted with a variety of magical devices to give him supremacy over his opponent, the goddess Tiamat. One of these is a "stealth suit" that is described in evocative terms by the ancient epic: "Command now and let the garment vanish, and speak the word again and let the garment reappear! Then (Marduk) spake with his mouth, and the garment vanished; Again he commanded … [Read more...]

THE PUZZLE OF “THE PUZZLE OF THE SPACE PYRAMIDS”

Yesterday I finished a couple of big projects - or at least put them into some sort of "rough draft order" - and I decided to goof off and read a book. The book of choice, in this case, was an old science fiction yarn called The Puzzle of the Space Pyramids by Eando Binder, a nom-de-plume for Alfred Binder and his brother Otto, both of whom wrote a series of sci-fi novels. In this case, the book was quite a yarn, and entertaining in its own way. Written first as a series of short stories that were serialized in the late 1930's and early 1940's, the stories were "fixed up" and reprinted as a … [Read more...]
