SITE NEWS: CAF LAUNCHES CROWD FUNDING VIRTUAL PIPE ORGAN EFFORT

Ok folks, for those of you who are members and saw the little pipe organ webinar, I happened to mention a "project that was none of my doing," and for those of you who aren't members, well, I said there was a project in the works that was (again), none of my doing. Our friend, former Assistant Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Catherine Austin Fitts, and financial-political analyst and strategist, during one of her recent visits, heard me wishing thatย  I had access to a nice big pipe organ to play but that having been out of practice for so many years, I've lost all contact with people who could grant me access to one. Then I added it was unlikely anyway since I am usually awake through the night working. During our music discussions (which we often have after we get done talking about politics and economics and geopolitics and trying to make sense of this crazy world) I mentioned "virtual pipe organs" and "virtual harpsichords", and she asked "What's that?"

Well, I explained that basically they are digital masters of famous pipe organs (or harpsichords) that one buys and downloads into a computer, which them can be played from special organ keyboards and pedal boards right in your home. She said, "well that's what you really need, then. How much are they?" and I laughed and said "Way beyond my budget!"
"Well," she said, being undaunted, "let's just crowd fund one for you," and before I knew it, she had started a project to do so, which will be kicked off by a luncheon for her(and our) website members who might wish to meet for lunch as we'll be in the Tulsa neighborhood. So here's the details for that lunch from her website, The Solari Report:

Sadly, it’s too short notice for me to make the event, but I will give what I can.

What a wonderful idea of Catherine Austin Fitts! Although I could not travel there, I wish the effort great success.

(I sincerely wish Catherine Austin Fitts were running for the Presidency in your country.)

Love this idea–so Catherine! You can add bumper music to the vidchats, Joseph.

You might want to visit a piano retailer. Some of the new pianos are both acoustic and electronic and have pipe organ features, such as the Kawai brand manufactured in Japan. Also, I don’t know about South Dakota but here in New England there are plenty of idle pipe organs gathering dust in some of the old main line Christian churches that haven’t embraced secular ideology and have therefore fallen by the wayside. The evangelicals have taken over a few of these old churches but something tells me pipe organs are anathema to their form of yahweh worship.

Those keyboards are really not adequate …

Count me in on the crowd funding, too! Can’t wait to hear some original compositions and some C.P.E Bach as well. The webinar was great, by the way!

As someone who explored analog synthesis and sampling as far back as the 80s, I heartily encourage this experiment.

Of course, you’ll need a really big amp and speakers to really get the body shaking effects . . . .

At the very least, this should allow you to get a much better computer as well, although the specs for the Hauptwerk software (not that this is what you are looking at – I just found it quickly online) were pretty tame.

There are some pretty great MIDI keyboards out now, too.

I expect the organ music from “Ghost and Mr. Chicken.” Hey, maybe that could become your site theme song!

Just think, you could do an album . . . .and a music video with Weird Al . . . .

I have bought the plane ticket and not only will be a donor in crowd funding but there to enjoy the night with friends! Hope to see many of you there!

What a fantastic idea!!! After listening to some beautiful Baroque (thanks to Dr Farrell), I’ve also decided to begin saving for a little baby grand. Once a musician always a musician, no matter how long an interval between pieces.

So how can we Australians contribute?

Count me in! If we don’t hear one of Joseph’s own compositions first, then 10 to 1 it will be JS or CPE Bach! So happy for you Joseph ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thank you Ms Fitts et al. You’re right: I don’t want to miss The Grand Virtual Pipe Organ Crowdfund launch party!

Any friend of Dr. Farrell is my friend too. I will happily donate once the crowd funding site is up and running.

Love it! Can’t make the luncheon, however, I will be making a donation! Once the apparatus is up and working, you must upload a sample!

    • Joseph P. Farrell on September 15, 2016 at 4:48 pm

When and IF I get back into practice. I haven’t played one in over 25 years and haven’t played steadily since graduate school, the early 1980s

  16. Guygrr on September 15, 2016 at 3:55 pm

Wooo virtual pipe organ! As an incentive do we get to make song requests? I would very much like to hear an amalgamation of rap and some sick pipe organ beats.
