A couple of weeks ago I commented about the emerging eclipse of the Tower of Babel moment, as fewer and fewer languages are coming to represent the lingua franca of ever larger portions of the world's population, with English leading the way. I had a number of interesting responses, including two interesting bits of information I thought I'd pass along, and comment upon. The first little tidbit is this, reported by Iranian Press TV: Age-old Babylonian inscription found Now, this gave me pause for a number of reasons, so bear with me here. The first reason was, at a time when the … [Read more...]
CAIRO AND BAGHDAD: SOME DISTURBING PARALLELS
As you can probably tell, I am haunted this week by the looting of Egypt's antiquities, and the mysteries that it raises. Something does not "feel" right about all of it, not the least of which are its disturbing parallels to the Baghdad Museum Looting. Consider this article first posted by Reuters in 2003 about the infamous theft of objects - and possibly other things - from Baghdad, that was posted on famous radio celebrity Jeff Rense's website: Looted Baghada Museum Treasures Feared Lost Observe that one short sentence: "The museum also held tablets of cuneiform writing that still had … [Read more...]
MORE DISTURBING POSSIBILITIES ON EGYPTIAN MUSEUM LOOTING
A few days ago, the following disturbing article was posted by Judith H. Dobryzinksi on her blogsite: A Leaked Inventory of Missing Items from the Cairo Museum Ms. Dobryzinski states that she received this leaked list via reliable sources from inside the museum itself. There are, to my mind, two very interesting things about this. The first of these things is that one could be reading an almost exact repeat of the Baghdad Museum looting, for the list of missing objects is precisely that, a list of missing objects, in other words, ancient art. We are not told, as Dr. Hawass himself … [Read more...]
HAWASS ON EGYPTIAN LOOTINGS
Dr. Zahi Hawass posted the following article on his blogsite on March 3, 2011, concerning the looting of Egyptian antiquities: The Status of Egyptian Antiquities, Today, March 3, 2011 When reading this report, one can only be saddened at the sheer extent of what Dr. Hawass reported concerning the lootings. Notably, Hawass maintains that some of the items were recovered, but as the report of March 3 made clear, Hawass himself was, at that time, still awaiting a fuller inventory from other departments of the government as to what had gone missing. What I find particularly disturbing - … [Read more...]
THE BAGHDAD MUSEUM LOOTING: SOME MORE THOUGHTS
Colonel Metthew Bogdanos' (USMC) book, Thieves of Baghdad is the account of the official U.S. military investigation of the looting of the Baghdad Museum. While normally I would not use my site to review a book, in this case I think the subject is significant enough to warrant posting my thoughts, for in this case, there are a number of things in this book that tend to support my thesis that someone was fully prepapred prior to the U.S. invasion and occupation of that country to steal priceless artifacts - including cuneiform tablets - that contained esoteric knowledge of ancient high science … [Read more...]
