McNamara Calls this The "Fossil". But if not, could it be machined or artificial?

The last couple of days I've been showing the enlargements of Mr. Paul McNamara in the United Kingdom of some of the strange things found in the following NASA image of the Mars spirit rover. Yesterday I mentioned my Facebook friend Paul McNamara who has graciously allowed some of the enlargements he's done of NASA's Mars rover images of McMurdo to be shared with readers here.
