ANOTHER DARPA-ESQUE MERGER: 3-D PRINTING, STEM CELLS, AND TRANSHUMANISM

This one was sent to me by my co-author in Transhumanism: A Grimoire of Alchemical Agendas, Dr. Scott D. de Hart, and it made me think even more just how prophetic Percy (not Mary) Shelley's 1818 Frankenstein really is: 3D-Printed Human Embryonic Stem Cells Created for First Time One really doesn't know where to begin here. Dr. de Hart and I wrote at some length in Tranhumanism, and I have commented here on this website often enough, about the DARPA-esque combinations of emerging technologies. We are familiar, of course, with the implication that each emerging technology  - genetic … [Read more...]

EGGS FROM STEM CELLS: SOME POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE ASPECTS OF THE TRANSHUMANIST FUTURE

In Transhumanism: A Grimoire of AlchemicalAgendas, Dr Scott de Hart and I pointed out that the basic agenda behind transhumanism, as a philosophical movement or meditation upon humanity's future, seems to be at root fundamentally alchemical, since it follows the path of ascent from animal, to vegetable, to mineral, and finally, to androgynous man. Crucial to this emerging philosophical meditation are the so-called GRIN technologies: Genetics, Robotics, Information-processing, and Nanotechnologies. In that book, we likewise advanced the hypothesis that androgyny, in the ancient myths, was … [Read more...]

TRANSHUMANISM: BRAIN CELLS COME ALIVE ON COMPUTER CHIP

Last week I blogged about the achievement of scientists at Harvard growing a kind of cyborg electrical tissue of sensors out of a biological matrix. Well folks, the transhumanist genie is not only out of the bottle, but appears to be growing week by week, as this article sent to me by Mr. D.W. in the United Kingdom, attests: Brain in a Dish Comes Alive Now, as the article notes, all this is being done in the noble pursuit of trying to help stroke victims (with, let it be noted, Stem cells, which brings to immediate mind all sorts of ethical questions, not the least of which is: how were … [Read more...]

NOW YOU’RE A DRUG…

Yesterday I blogged about the implications of a recent court decision involving Monsanto and some organic farmers who had brought suit against the company to protect their fields from contamination with its "products". There, I intimated that the logical end result of recent trends in American "jurisprudence" (and I almost gagged by glorifying the corruption of the system with that term) would be to gradually and inexorably transform the human being itself into a commodity subject to regulation by the federal bureaucracy. Well, surprise surprise, it's already happened. According to the … [Read more...]
