NEGATIVE MASS CREATED…?

Well, folks, I'm back... sort of. I'm still quite tired, and trying to rest as much as possible. As you may have guessed my soar throat was more than that, it was full blown tonsilitis which had to be beaten back by anti-biotic IV drips and you name it. So as I indicated yesterday, Ms. K.M. has graciously contributed some new blogs to our "contributor posts" category to help tide things through.  For those wondering about the lost vidchat, yes, I do plan to reschedule, probably around the end of the month, as soon as I think my voice will stand the strain and not land me back in the same mess.

Meanwhile, of course, the news does not stop, and this story was seen and shared by so many I have to blog about it, and, of course, indulge my taste for high octane speculation. Indeed, this story has so many implications for our world I don't know where to begin. Nonetheless, here it is: physicists have created a substance, in this case, ruibidium apparently suspended in a solution, and then super-cooled, with negative mass:

Physicists create fluid with 'negative mass'

Researchers used lasers to cool the liquid in a tiny bowl. When scientists broke the bowl, the rubidium atoms rushed outwards. Scientists applied a second set of lasers to alter the spin of the out-rushing atoms. As a result, the atoms took on negative mass.

"Once you push, it accelerates backwards," said Forbes. "It looks like the rubidium hits an invisible wall."

Researchers say their latest experiments -- detailed in the journal Physical Review Letters -- were simpler and offered greater control over negative mass than previous attempts.

Where's the high octane here? For one thing, it confirms in a major way what has long been suspected, namely, that matter near absolute zero would take on coherent properties and perhaps exhibit kontrabaric (negative mass) properties. This has been suspected since Evgenny Podkletnov first noticed strange "negative mass" like properties when experimenting in the 1990s with super-conducting rings. One effect is that negative mass - as the article indicates, and if we may speak analogically - acts as a kind of phase conjugation mirror: force applied moves it not in the direction of the applied force, but against it. Now, I mention that strange analogy simply to exhibit one possible use of this negative mass effect: phase conjugation, of an apparently almost perfect nature, which of course, would have benefits for various optical technologies, including, of course, weaponry applications. That of course is stretching things way beyond the article, and in a very bizarre direction, going way out on to the end of the twig where the weight of the speculation far exceeds the evidence and reasoning strength of the twig. Perhaps I'm simply loopy and still feeling the aftereffects of antibiotics. Then again, such bizarre brainstorming is a trademark of people in various agencies, say, like DARPA. We'll get back to them in a moment.

However, and as I think will be obvious, the much more interesting possibility here are the lift and propulsion possibilities. Obviously, negative mass isn't quite the same thing as "anti-gravity", but it's in the same stadium, and, most importantly, the new experiment is much simpler in terms of its mechanisms of controlling the phenomenon:

Researchers say their latest experiments -- detailed in the journal Physical Review Letters -- were simpler and offered greater control over negative mass than previous attempts.

"What's a first here is the exquisite control we have over the nature of this negative mass, without any other complications," said Forbes.

Now, normally my "routine" here is to do the "high octane speculation" stuff last, and then sign off with my usual "see you on the flip side." But today I hope you noticed something about that article, which is why I got to the high octane speculation stuff first. Notice, that as far as the article is concerned, the new "negative mass" fluid is good for only a few "practical applications" that will not directly impact the world our children or grandchildren will live in:

The success may allow for exploration of strange phenomena like black holes and neutron stars.

Black holes and neutron stars. From a substance with negative mass, that accelerates in the opposite direction of any force applied to it.

I can hear the guys at the Diabolically Apocalyptic Research Projects Agency (DARPA) even now: "Yup. That's about it folks. Neutron stars and black holes. Nothing to see here, just a bunch of arcane theoretical stuff. No practical applications. Move along... nothing to see here..."

Now, what if we spun a bunch of this stuff up in the... oh never mind...

But speaking of "spin", here's another version of the story:

https://news.wsu.edu/2017/04/10/negative-mass-created-at-wsu/

Note, this statement:

To create negative mass, the researchers applied a second set of lasers that kicked the atoms back and forth and changed the way they spin. Now when the rubidium rushes out fast enough, if behaves as if it has negative mass.

In other words, the implication is that rotation, and mass, are related, and if that's the case, then perhaps we're looking at a phenomenon with broken symmetry and polarity. Electrogravitics, anyone?

See you on the flip side...

Now here comes the backpeddling: Just came across the first of probably many articles from the Skeptic community. Brace yourselves for the wave of smarmy comments. from mainstream academics pooh poohing the negative mass story. As expected, like so many times before (sigh) the Scientific community publishes something exciting and groundbreaking, then says, “well, no, not really” and starts backpeddling. Just like they did with life on mars, and like they did with the EM drive. Now here comes the backpeddling on the Negative Mass:

    http://gizmodo.com/no-scientists-didnt-just-create-negative-mass-or-defy-1794525465

Here come the glib remarks and sarcasm from the Scientific Conservatives, the know it alls. Got to maintain the Party Line. Go back to sleep, America, move along now, there’s nothing to see here!

HI Dr Farrell, so glad you’re better!

Now, does this mean that finally spacecraft can accelerate and change direction in space?

With all this juicy stuff coming out, I still believe they know nothing about the universe. The universe has it’s secrets, just ask Isaac Newton. With all the great minds over the centuries, nobody has “cracked it”, and I believe they never will.

🙂 Ask Newton what he thinks about the EM drive.. Equal and opposite reaction my huge gigantic… APPLES.
Physics doesnt work the way we think it does.. We’ve installed ‘limits and put unsurmountable barriers’ in place.. I feel like we’re at the start of the automobile industry.. My God.. Not more than 15 mph.. the pressure will crush your chest… Thats it.. go no further.. here be dragons…

Dr. Farrell, I’m glad you’re feeling better. (Once the antibiotics are concluded, you might want to wait a week or so and then ‘refresh’ all the good bacteria in your gut. They have been killed off by the antibiotics, just like the bad bacteria. The ‘beneficial’ bacteria are needed for many things. Also, by throwing-in large numbers of good bacteria into unpopulated territory, you can close-out bad bacteria colonization [sorry] in a semi-Darwinian fashion. The large number of good bacteria simply out-compete the bad bacteria for food, so they can’t establish a hold. You can find Probiotic Bacteria mixtures in the refrigerated sections of health food stores.)

On negative mass, I am reminded of the famous “Lensman” SF series by E.E. ‘Doc’ Smith. In one pre-battle scene, the Patrol goes into a negative-mass universe, outfits planets to ‘pop’ into our universe, and goes after advanced bad-guy planets. The pertinent thing here is that the bad-guys have gigantic tractor/pressor-beam installations on their planets. They fire a huge pressor-beam at the ‘popped-in’ planet, assured of diverting it away. To their horror, being a negative-mass planet, the pressor-beam ATTRACTS that planet to their planet. They discover the ‘switch’ too late. Ouch. D@mn, those were good books…

In the real world, I have often wondered about Absolute Zero (temperature). It often appeared to me to be like Einstein’s ‘speed limit’ for light. Something where it was said that there WAS no other side. Move along; nothing to see here. With these new ‘negative mass’ results, I wonder if going ‘below’ Absolute Zero (temperature) is going to produce negative mass automatically. No REAL barrier; just a transition point to another ‘universe’…

    • iZeta on April 19, 2017 at 7:22 pm

You don’t always have to take a jar of pro-biotics to reintroduce ‘good’ bacteria. There is always bacteria in the gut, the trick is to feed them properly. Basically, they love to munch on cellulose, and need all of the nutrients from whole grains. That’s how your gut bulks up.

OR you can just go outside and eat some muck that’s FREE (probably infused with Barium and Aluminium.) Eat Soil and be healthy.

Interesting. A fluid with an exotic metal in rotation, hit by high energy beams . . . .

Maybe I missed some physics lately, but how does a laser “cool” something? Seems to me they mostly heat things.

Yeah, nothing to see here, just some lab toys for studying the most extreme items in space. Yawn.

    Yah, sure, you betcha . . . .

    • Kahlypso on April 20, 2017 at 2:00 am

Im not sure of the physics.. but it has something to do with photons and red light..and reducing kinetic energy of the atom.. hang on.. wiki my friend.. come over here..
      Doppler Effect…
“In Doppler cooling, the frequency of light is tuned slightly below an electronic transition in the atom. Because the light is detuned to the “red” (i.e., at lower frequency) of the transition, the atoms will absorb more photons if they move towards the light source, due to the Doppler effect.
Thus if one applies light from two opposite directions, the atoms will always scatter more photons from the laser beam pointing opposite to their direction of motion. In each scattering event the atom loses a momentum equal to the momentum of the photon. If the atom, which is now in the excited state, then emits a photon spontaneously, it will be kicked by the same amount of momentum, but in a random direction. Since the initial momentum change was a pure loss (opposing the direction of motion), while the subsequent change was random (i.e., not pure gain), the overall result of the absorption and emission process is to reduce the momentum of the atom, therefore its speed — provided its initial speed was larger than the recoil speed from scattering a single photon. If the absorption and emission are repeated many times, the average speed, and therefore the kinetic energy of the atom will be reduced. Since the temperature of a group of atoms is a measure of the average random internal kinetic energy, this is equivalent to cooling the atoms.”

Been thinking that negative mass would repel other negative mass, but would it repel positive mass? Its not anti gravity, but if positive mass is suppose to warp space what does negative mass do so space? I think if this were thought through it might end part of the Einsteinian theory. At any rate, Bullwinkle I think we found Upsadaisyum.

Could this be the key to UFO technology and also the key a more reliable space propulsion system. The key to interplanetary-interstellar voyages and a way to the world of Star Trek-Star Wars-Dune future human space colonization. Just hoping that slavery is not part of that future a la Citizen of the Galaxy.

    • Kahlypso on April 20, 2017 at 1:15 am

Hey Marcos – UFO Tech? Like anti gravity? Thats super conducteurs and massive DC current. This anti gravity.. appears to be more like a force multiplier… I think that it may be appliable in the MET and EM drive..
(between you and I… I think that the slavery got imported from on high.. I don’t think slavery existed before they turned up…)

I’ve wondered about this since my high school days. That when approaching absolute zero[a supposed impossibility] what would happen[fail-safe mechanism?]. Like the math symbol approaching infinity[but impossible?].
Now it appears we have some possible theories. But the hologram universe still stands[though still, like a holographic plate that’s been damaged – full of [w]Holes.

    • Robert Barricklow on April 19, 2017 at 1:25 pm

Now they can blow the dust of those initial early models and start phasing out rocket propulsion systems & weapons.

      About time!

Those initial patents can now be monopolized by in-house stooges, who can get another of those infamous Nobel theft prize; just like the Nobel Peace prizes for top weapon sales[SNAFU].

I tell you who else created negative mass: Jeung Park, otherwise known as North Korea’s Tesla who also boasts of a 400+ IQ. This is just one of his many discoveries and inventions, including stealth technology and lasers equipped on all of North Korea’s subs, ships and fighter jets. And then there is North Korea’s sacred mountain which is venerated not just because it is conscious entity but because Park has turned it into a Giza Death Star war weapon. I would also add that Jeung Park lost his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and siblings when the US military carpet bombed his entire country during the war (Thank you psychopath General Curtis LeMay who has reincarnated into General McMaster). Then in the nineties when the US turned its weather modifying weapons on North Korea and devastated the country with floods and droughts killing hundreds of thousands through famine (as hegemons Madaline Albright and Hillary Clinton danced the hava nigila as they did all throughout their nineties reign of terror otherwise known as “the starve the children decade.”) Jung Park’s wife and children were killed in the flooding. So, suffice it to say, this genius scientist has gone mad and wants revenge against the US for its decades long overt and covert war against his tiny nation that wants nothing more then to be free of permissive western culture and crass materialism.

Didnt they create the Time Crystals by spinning them with lasers in absolute zero temperatures?
So.. what does negative mass do for Gravity..

“According to Newton’s law of universal gravitation, the attractive force (F) between two point-like bodies is directly proportional to the product of their masses, and inversely proportional to the square of the distance, r, between them ” (wiki)

Could this negative mass be applied to the MET drive….
you think that this may effect the tests with NASA’s MET drive? h ttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woodward_effect (i broke the link to avoid moderation..)

Or would it benefit more the EM drive with the big cavity that gets particles to bounce off it…

Another great example of physics not working as it’s supposed to…

    Or..

Now we know why the Aliens set up shop 3 miles under the Antarctica Ice Shelf.. It needs to get cold for Magic to work.. All this absolute zero stuff is pretty recent… When did they get through to Vostohk? (the first time.. not the second time ..)

    • Kahlypso on April 19, 2017 at 6:31 am

      This EM drive – http://www.sciencealert.com/leaked-nasa-paper-shows-the-impossible-em-drive-really-does-work
“It works by simply bouncing microwave photons back and forth inside a cone-shaped closed metal cavity. That motion causes the ‘pointy end’ of the EM Drive to generate thrust, and propel the drive in the opposite direction.”

And if the pointy end is covered in Zero Mass Liquid as well.. would that accelerate the drive?

    • Kahlypso on April 19, 2017 at 6:47 am

ps. I have a mental image of Darpa’ien Scientists bringing anything and everything they can lay their hands on shouting, “freeze it to absolute zero and spin it with lasers… something will happen.. we just dont know what yet..”
They have their coolbox in place already.. https://www.nasa.gov/feature/jpl/nasa-wants-to-create-the-coolest-spot-in-the-universe
They have their lazer ready…The Death Star is powering up as we speak.. And I thought those spheres (no not planets :)) floating around the Sun were Aliens…
Ahh.. Maybe the Moon is hollow because they’ve already mined out where they’re going to install the Lazer.. Sorry I need more caffeine..

Glad to learn that you’re feeling better and on the mend!

I recall reading a summary of the bizarre properties of matter as it approaches absolute zero in a vacuum (well, pretty much what we call space, essentially). it was a few years ago and even if I did bookmark it, I’d be hard-pressed even to find that, but what particularly struck me and stuck with me was that there was a sort of event horizon where properties inverted — extreme cold became inextinguishable from extreme heat, for example — and now it has been found that mass can invert, too.

It makes one think that this could answer quite a lot of persistent questions in astrophysics and UFOlogy, such as: Maybe this is where that “missing” 93% of the universe has gone? Maybe this is why galaxies can rotate so fast and not fly apart? Maybe this is how ET craft surpass the speed of light, and explains how they dilate as well ?

    • basta on April 19, 2017 at 5:44 am

Another way to look at these massive anomalies is that we are measuring everything from an anomalous position on earth and that in fact the vast majority of the universe — i.e., the zero point and vacuum of space — operates under some fundamentally different physical rules. We’re the anomaly and, like primitives who think that the center of the village clearing is the navel of the universe, the inverse is actually the case, and we are the exception in a universe operating quite differently than we can gauge or largely comprehend.
