TIDBIT: COMING SOON TO AN OPERA OR MUSICAL EVENT NEAR YOU: QUOTAS

While you're pondering the nuttery of American culture's "stinking, sinking garbage barge," consider this one:

Classical Music’s White Male Supremacy is Overt, Pervasive, and a Problem

As I warned last year at Catherine Fitt's Louisville Luncheon, the assault on music itself has begun, and trust me, these people a lunatic enough to impose quotas on how many hours one listens to music. And we can predict the forms it will take: if you're white, and listen to Duke Ellington or Josephine Baker or (in my case) Leontyne Price, you'll be accused of "cultural appropriation" rather than simply wanting to enjoy some good music. Did you spend enough hours listening to Hindu ragas and Tibetan chant today and appreciating the "overtones" of non-tempered music? Good lad: submit your form for the culture police before the end of the week.

Progressivism must politicize everything, from NFL games to the opera. We're not permitted to simply enjoy things, regardless of who creates them. Everything must be a "statement."

This is idiocy.

What happens when you commercial music to the point of securitize, financialize, derivatize, privatize, monopolize? Hey, if you’ve got the money, you’ve got a top 40 on the hit parade.
If your music is really good; it’s going to entertain those infamous prisoners at Guantanamo. And if it drives them inane. You’ll all be hearing it soon after – ad infinitum on your radio/media/buffets/etc..

    Devil in skin
    begging at the door
    want to come in
    to dirty the floor,
    and luckily
    the redeemer
    has a holy
    vacuum cleaner,
    that is baptised
    by heavenly father
    and blessed
    in sanctified soap water.

  3. Step 1: Pick a thing. Step 2: Politicise it. Step 3: Police it. Step 4: Pulverise it. Step 5: Out of the dust and rubble, raise the new Paradigm. Rinse and repeat.
