…ABOUT THAT JOHNS HOPKINS COVID STUDY…

This story was a bit of a surprise to me, because at initial glance when I read it, I could not figure out why so many people had spotted it and sent it along to me. But it didn't take long to figure out, once I read into the original article a ways.

What I am talking about is that study by "Genevieve Briand, assistant program director of the Applied Economics master's degree program at Hopkins," that "crunched the numbers" relating to covid--19 deaths in the USA. She came to "certain conclusions" that were deleterious to the planscamdemic narrative (notice the presence of the word "delete" in "deleterious"; we'll get back to that tout suite as my little French grandmother used to say to me when I was a boy and she wanted me to do something, and to do it now), so within a matter of a few days, Johns Hopkins had deleted the study, taken it down, and offered "reasons" for doing so. Here's one article describing its "reasons" (this, again, was shared by many people):

Johns Hopkins Study Saying COVID-19 Has 'Relatively No Effect on Deaths' in U.S. Spiked After Publication

According to the article, Johns Hopkins offered the following "explanation":

On Thursday, Johns Hopkins University explained that they deleted the article on the study because it “was being used to support false and dangerous inaccuracies about the impact of the pandemic.”

What false and dangerous inaccuracies could those be?
Well, here's another take:
You'll note that this second article links the original study being referred to, as  well as the entire text of Johns Hopkins' "explanation" for taking it down, which is here:
Yup, sure enough, right there is Johns Hopkins' "explanation":

Editor’s Note: After The News-Letter published this article on Nov. 22, it was brought to our attention that our coverage of Genevieve Briand’s presentation “COVID-19 Deaths: A Look at U.S. Data” has been used to support dangerous inaccuracies that minimize the impact of the pandemic.

We decided on Nov. 26 to retract this article to stop the spread of misinformation, as we noted on social media. However, it is our responsibility as journalists to provide a historical record. We have chosen to take down the article from our website, but it is available here as a PDF.

In accordance with our standards for transparency, we are sharing with our readers how we came to this decision. The News-Letter is an editorially and financially independent, student-run publication. Our articles and content are not endorsed by the University or the School of Medicine, and our decision to retract this article was made independently.

Briand’s study should not be used exclusively in understanding the impact of COVID-19, but should be taken in context with the countless other data published by Hopkins, the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

As assistant director for the Master’s in Applied Economics program at Hopkins, Briand is neither a medical professional nor a disease researcher. At her talk, she herself stated that more research and data are needed to understand the effects of COVID-19 in the U.S.

In other words, the article was (1) not an official study of the university, but one of its students, (2) was not the study of a "medical professional nor a disease researcher", and that leaves the conclusion that (3) her study was being "used to support dangerous inaccuracies that minimize the impact of the pandemic."

But you'll note that the Newsletter itself states that it has been a publication of the Johns Hopkins' student association "since 1896." To my mind, that makes the original publication even more, not less, interesting, because it means that at least one student at that institution, namely Ms. Briand herself, was not asleep, and was simply following the numbers, and doing what any rational and reasonable person would do when examining them: "doubting the narrative".

So let's return to the first article. What did she find?

After retrieving data on the CDC website, Briand compiled a graph representing percentages of total deaths per age category from early February to early September, which includes the period from before COVID-19 was detected in the U.S. to after infection rates soared.

Surprisingly, the deaths of older people stayed the same before and after COVID-19. Since COVID-19 mainly affects the elderly, experts expected an increase in the percentage of deaths in older age groups. However, this increase is not seen from the CDC data. In fact, the percentages of deaths among all age groups remain relatively the same.

Having adopted the "using their own numbers" approach, Ms. Briand came to the following conclusion (which, let it be noted, is a conclusion many other researchers came to long ago:

According to the study, “in contrast to most people’s assumptions, the number of deaths by COVID-19 is not alarming. In fact, it has relatively no effect on deaths in the United States.”

Wait, what? Really?

That’s what it says. And, it should come as no surprise that the study was deleted within days.

Then there is this article: A few days ago Johns Hopkins published a study saying corona is nbd. They then deleted it. Read it here in its entirety

This goes into greater depth about her method, and what she found:

These data analyses suggest that in contrast to most people's assumptions, the number of deaths by COVID-19 is not alarming. In fact, it has relatively no effect on deaths in the United States.

This comes as a shock to many people. How is it that the data lie so far from our perception?

To answer that question, Briand shifted her focus to the deaths per causes ranging from 2014 to 2020. There is a sudden increase in deaths in 2020 due to COVID-19. This is no surprise because COVID-19 emerged in the U.S. in early 2020, and thus COVID-19-related deaths increased drastically afterward.

Analysis of deaths per cause in 2018 revealed that the pattern of seasonal increase in the total number of deaths is a result of the rise in deaths by all causes, with the top three being heart disease, respiratory diseases, influenza and pneumonia.

"This is true every year. Every year in the U.S. when we observe the seasonal ups and downs, we have an increase of deaths due to all causes," Briand pointed out.

When Briand looked at the 2020 data during that seasonal period, COVID-19-related deaths exceeded deaths from heart diseases. This was highly unusual since heart disease has always prevailed as the leading cause of deaths. However, when taking a closer look at the death numbers, she noted something strange. As Briand compared the number of deaths per cause during that period in 2020 to 2018, she noticed that instead of the expected drastic increase across all causes, there was a significant decrease in deaths due to heart disease. Even more surprising, as seen in the graph below, this sudden decline in deaths is observed for all other causes. (Emphasis added)

In other words, the implication is that the covid numbers are being "doctored" (not to coin a pun) in order to blow the covid narrative into a planscamdemic, sort of like noticing that suddenly spiking numbers for Briben correlate oddly with falling numbers for Trump. Nope, nothing to see here, we're taking the study down because it needs further study (that will presumably agree with the predetermined narrative).

All of which leads me to wonder - and doubtless many of you may be wondering too - whether or not Dominion software is being used not only to "count" votes, but to count covid deaths... Or as a friend of mine (K.M.) put it to me, Scorecard and Hammer, or "PROMIS 2.0". Information warfare anyone?

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised. The bottom line is, graph correlations do not prove manipulation of numbers (in either case), but they do give a reasonable basis to conclude that there may be a correlation, and that reasonable rational people are right to be suspicious.

See you on the flip side...

There has been obvious fraud, but he has had a multitude of cases thrown out and the same thing will happen with the Supreme Court. Tell that to barr who has said there is not sufficient fraud to make a difference, because he checked with cnn and that’s what he was told (joke). His defense team is pathetic. Rudy is over the hill and the female is all about her Christian religion. Furthermore, she called Trump everything but a white man during the first campaign. Who cares. Waiting on god or Jesus is not going to happen, because it has never happened in history. And then you have Sydney Powell and Lin Wood creating another circus which is just as bad, but Trump is responsible for his great selections for the last four years (sarcasm). And his big mouth going off on McCain for four years, and constant promises to release this and that and on and on has not helped. The biggest joke has been barr, durham, haspel (twinkie eating pompeo recommended her) and wray. To add icing to the cake, barr has guaranteed nothing will happen with the Russian thing by appointing durham as special prosecutor who will be dismissed by biden, and the republicans will complain about it for a few days and then go back to their caves. Where has durham been for the last year and a half, while Trump has been tweeting to get something done, unaware that he is the chief law enforcement official in the U. S.. I was with Trump for 3 years or so but the time has come to get out and shut up. I’m beginning to think he has his own skeletons in his closet, and that is the reason nothing was ever done.

Folk are starting to get the idea how this rolls out in these small increments. Already hearing dial back on this one that only a few of these happy folk tested positive. Imagine what these folk gave up in their unrest. Everyone of them was carrying a phone that was tracked. Those people jay walk and their bank account gets an auto withdrawal fine when they get to the other side with a text telling them so and a drop in their social credit score. The main problem goes way beyond Dr. Briand’s research. The extreme orthodoxy demands how one thinks about the Virus. Do not ‘buck-up’ against the established tenants of the Faithful. From my perspective the reason for the inflated virus numbers can be traced to the re-write of the CDC protocols relating to Death Certificates, which demands the virus be listed as the ‘primary cause’ of death regardless of the facts. So even if a person had an underlying chronic illness, but tested positive for the virus, the Death Certificate must list the virus as the primary cause of death. Very straightforward.

OK everyone, she IS a PH.D so the lack of respect is another factor here. How dumb really to offer one her ‘student’s’ opinion on her work. So Chris, it’s Dr. Briand……

Genevieve Briand is the Assistant Director for MS in Applied Economics program. She received her PhD from Washington State University. She has taught for the Applied Economics Program since summer, 2015, and currently teaches Microeconomic Theory, Statistics, and Econometrics. She has many years of experience teaching numerous and varied economics and statistics courses. Her fields of interest are microeconomics and econometrics. Previously, she was an Instructor at the University of Idaho, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Economics at Washington State University, and a tenured Associate Professor at Eastern Washington University.

    • goshawks on December 2, 2020 at 4:33 pm

TEU, thanks for the digging! (I was about to do that myself.) In my opinion, it is obvious that higher-ups ‘leaned’ on the staff at the newspaper to conveniently “omit” that Dr. Briand was a seasoned Ph.D. That would support her narrative. However, they did throw-in that her critic was a Masters Degree candidate. (Note that a Masters/Ph.D. candidate is in a particularly vulnerable position – their degree may or may not materialize in the future. Plus, any scholarships or funding for their degree research.)

Dr. Briand was also in the perfect field to spot the massaging of statistics. Plus, teaching often forces the teacher to review the basic math and statistics appropriate to the teacher’s field. It is ‘ground in’, so to speak. In addition, unlike many Ph.D.’s, a teaching Ph.D. is not limited to one topic – he/she can let the mind roam…

Other (honest) researchers have found that CV is real and dangerous – but mostly to folks who have serious pre-existing conditions. In other words, they are already ‘worn down’ and CV finishes the job. Sad, but no reason to destroy the global economy.

Evidently, Dr. Briand had enough of a conscience to need to publish what she found – even knowing beforehand that doing-so would destroy her career. Kudos!

  16. chris on December 2, 2020 at 10:40 am

I wonder if Ms Briand was given a ‘talking-to’ by faculty and admin after posting this article. Maybe they didn’t realise the implications when they allowed it to be published. Or maybe she tweaked it.

  17. OrigensChild on December 2, 2020 at 10:24 am

When “the science” sets forth an inconvenient truth social engineering is sure to step in and take over the official narrative. People here know this to be true. Herein lies the rub. “Science” is supposedly built on top of the edifice of mathematics–and mathematics, as you know, applied to specific problems correctly leads to rather interesting, and inconvenient, truths. “Science” will always play to “simplify” or “ignore” mathematics when there are social, political or economic reasons for doing so–and Dr. Farrell has notated several instances where this is true with respect to the Maxwell equations and the famous Michelson-Morley experiment related to ether. There were political and economic reasons for the “success” of the downsizing of equations (Maxwell) and the nullification of the “ether” hypothesis to limit certain types of scientific experiments in the public domain. When “science” leads to inconvenient truths, use accounting tricks to supplicate the public and steer desired policy. This means we don’t follow “science”, we follow “policy”.

Kaibosch, I have been observing “this guy” for multiple years. He comes from a background that throws-up red flags all over the place, so I take any ‘news’ with a large grain of salt. However, being personally interested in the possibility of aliens interacting with us on Earth, I find his overall views quite interesting. They go onto my mind-shelf for stuff of that nature, in case that ‘possibility’ is actually real…

What intrigues me about him is that he seems to be of some sort of ‘royalty’ in the secrecy world. (I suspect this is because of his genetic father, of which little is said.) Others have been torn-apart for what he is saying, but he even got an invite to a briefing at a highly-classified radar station. He seems to move freely at the edge of deep-classified ‘stuff’.

To sum up, I have carefully-observed this man with my psychological counseling ‘eyesight’ over many years of watching videos by/about him. He does not exhibit any of the ‘tells’ that he is an obvious liar. Given what he is saying, that is intriguing-enough for me to keep watching. Time will tell…

Ive noticed a pattern among certain YTubers who I believe are set ups, what are called Pied Pipers – designed to ‘dead-end’ the following. They often use a bait and switch. They start a channel usually around 2018 along “spiritual” or “awakening” lines; there’s a big bandwagon of that stuff. They build an audience and then they suddenly switch to becoming overtly political e.g. covid or q-esque. The q thing is linked to the “great awakening” which has a quasi religious overtone and attracts the god fearing type hence the “consciousness” channel as stealth entry point, like this Parkes guy. Then they appear suddenly in the independent space and they pick up speed. Suddenly he is an expert on covert ops relating to Dominion and Gina Haspel is in Gitmo along with Obama. LOL. There was a UK youtuber called David Abel who was on the Diamond cruise ship back in March and became a cause celebre when he was vlogging everyday from his cabin under quarantine. He claimed to have the rona. His family wound up on the morning tv sofa. It was a bad soap opera and they were bad actors. It was an obvious op to convince the public of corona. His name summed to 33 = freemason. Simon Parkes is 77 which has a specific occult significance and relates directly to Crowley’s system of Thelema, inter alia. I noticed his eyes were looking to his right in his latest vid as if reading from a script. He’s a plant. My instincts are 99% accurate. ‘The Young Pharoah’ is another one. The deep state knows conservatives aren’t watching the tv anymore. They are doing a lot of controlled oppo stuff on YT with Pied Pipers.

        • goshawks on December 2, 2020 at 10:09 pm

Sigh. The first Simon Parkes videos currently-listed on YouTube are from 2014. That is quite a while before 2018, and put him way before the Trump election and administration.

Several sources on the web dating from 2013, when SP went public around the ‘aliens’, state that he was 53 at that time. This would put him around 60 years old, now.

Given a combination of your easily fact-checked inaccuracies about Simon Parkes above and the proclamation quality of your denouncements of him, I begin to suspect that there are Hidden Agendas at work here…

          • Theremin on December 2, 2020 at 11:00 pm

Simon Parkes: I never heard of him till last night when I watched a half-dozen of his “updates” very recent short videos. In a video, he explains that his grandfather was MI6 on loan to CIA and his mother was MI5 on loan to NSA. Within seconds of my hearing his warm soothing voice his “vibe” was screaming “intelligence operative.” He of course explains that he refused a job offer from CIA. Right? Intelligence doesn’t run in families?

Intelligence wants to infiltrate, or jump ahead to create thought leaders, for every social faction or potential resistance. I’ve noticed lots of Consciousness ops lately.

He mentions ascension a few times; and he’s planning to build healing centers–whatever that is? Just heal people–why do you need a building? Put your hands over someone, flow some energy–heal. Only fakes need million dollar foundations to ascend or to be a healer.

          • Kaibosch on December 3, 2020 at 9:48 am

            You seem to be confused.
            1. According to YT [“about”] Parkes joined YT on 9 April 2018. Parkes’ first YT video as “Simon Parkes” is dated 22/4/2018 entitled “Radio Show Update”. Feel free to post a YT link which pre-dates that.
            2. I did not mention Trump in my post.
            3. I did not refer to “several sources” online. I referred explicity and exclusively to YT for a reason. You miss the point.
            4. I made no reference to his age. I was referring to the gematria of his name in ref to 77 as with aforemetioned Abel. I am sorry if its confusing to you.

Babyish but arrogant put-downs like “sigh” and vague allegations of ‘hidden agendas’, plus an obvious inability to accurately read and comprehend an analysis of a potential pied piper persona – a well established disinfo strategy – and a preference for so-called “fact-checking” tells me all I need to know. (1) A few of the Simon Parkes videos on YouTube before 2018:

            (2) Technically correct, but you mentioned Q in connection with SP. The Q ‘phenomenon’ did not exist until the Trump presidency. SP predates Q (even on YouTube), unlike what you inferred.

            (3) The “several sources” I mentioned refers to mentions of SP’s age. See (4).

            (4) “Simon Parkes is 77…” I took that as his age. If you had said, “The gematria of Simon Parkes is 77,” that would have been clearer. Sorry about the misapprehension. (The Gematria calculator below shows Simon Parkes variously as 465, 840, and 140, none of which seems to translate to 77 :
            gematrix . org /?word=Simon+Parkes )

As to the rest of your comment, I just ask the ‘neutral’ reader to scan the tenor of our two comment streams. Plus, I personally think the Q phenomenon is either people grasping for straws or, more likely, an alphabet agency Op…

he could be getting false information and not know it. to the extent his story is consistent with the flynn/powell narrative it is worth listening to as a view.
the kraken claims could be a disappointment. or maybe not.

his stories about personal relationships with aliens are hard to understand. the aliens likely see us as dangerous lab rats.

meanwhile as today’s blog on the the covid stats indicates, the msm censors so much, the truth is a like a distorted ghost image.

        • Kaibosch on December 3, 2020 at 10:13 am

Personal relationships with aliens? Right ok. There is also the possiblity that he has mental health issues tbh. He is sitting in a room which looks like a bombsite in some of the yt videos. Its symptomatic of a chaotic mind; a peturbed ontological state. I keep an open mind as to the existence of the exotic in a broader sense – like water on mars is alien. But, call me a stick in the mud, alien lizards among is as an article of faith I can’t get on with. The whole show with Flynn, Powell and also Guilani is beginning to look like kabuki theatre to me tbh. The fraud challenge is breaking down. I would like to be wrong but that would be wishful thinking.

          • goshawks on December 3, 2020 at 3:29 pm

The room in which Simon Parkes has conducted his “Connecting Consciousness” videos is his study/office. Yes, it is cluttered. Homey, even. He even has their cats and dogs show-up during his presentation to be petted and loved – which he does. It is almost like he has a life…

Again, this not-so-subtle slandering is not helping your ’cause’. Simon Parkes may or may not be legit; time will tell…

I did not hear him mention Q in your link ….. but don’t be afraid to exercise YOUR free choice and just change the channel. Youtube globalist mgt. no longer tolerates free speech (unlike the USA) and will flush them eventually unless they are ALPHABET Inc. compliant, cointel or assets ..

      • Kaibosch on December 2, 2020 at 8:37 pm

He did mention Q. I got too much of the whiff of fake to listen for long. When he said that the head of CIA was in Gitmo, I burst out laughing….

        • Laura on December 2, 2020 at 10:47 pm

and he said haspel was overseeing the dominion server wipe overseas, a dcia would not engage in records destruction. that’s for contractors.

          • Kaibosch on December 3, 2020 at 10:24 am

Exactly. She’d be in her bunker or on vacation.

        • goshawks on December 3, 2020 at 1:52 am

Kaibosch, you might have listened longer before signing-off. Simon Parkes did state that the head of the CIA was captured after active resistance (five dead) inside the Dominion server-farm in Germany. She was being flown to Gitmo when, mid-flight, she caved/was-‘persuaded’ to sing like a canary. Her trip to Gitmo was canceled, and she was flown back to America.

Whether any of this actually took place is “above my pay grade,” so to speak. The odds are way against it, but this is an odd time. We will see…

Laura, I tend to agree with your opinion. Unlikely. That said, if the situation was dynamic and above-top-secret classified, ‘boots on the ground’ supervision may have been ordered by the PTB. Remember, the DCIA (under any administration) is around six levels down from the true power-brokers. In that sense, she is a flunky. We will see…

Error alert: “Genevieve Briand, assistant program director of the Applied Economics master’s degree program at Hopkins”; is she a student or in fact, a Ph.D. as an assistant director of an entire program?

They’ve quite foolishly in my estimation, touted a student’s response to her analysis: “During an interview with The News-Letter after the event, Poorna Dharmasena, a master’s candidate in Applied Economics, expressed his opinion about Briand’s concluding remarks. “”At the end of the day, it’s still a deadly virus. And over-exaggeration or not, to a certain degree, is irrelevant,” Dharmasena said. When asked whether the public should be informed about this exaggeration in death numbers, Dharmasena stated that people have a right to know the truth. However, COVID-19 should still continuously be treated as a deadly disease to safeguard the vulnerable population.””

What are this Master’s Candidate credentials for his opinion of over-exaggeration “being irrelevant to a certain degree” is perhaps what someone should next take issue with.

In the days of Pirbright, it would be called showing your willing acceptance of a guinea pouch ..

    • zendogbreath on December 2, 2020 at 2:47 pm

He is a masters candidate in what program? Applied economics?

      • zendogbreath on December 2, 2020 at 9:06 pm

So he is bucking his teacher? Wonder how many of her students she involved in researching that paper.

        • goshawks on December 3, 2020 at 4:37 am

ZDB, I had that thought, too. A good teacher inspires admiration in her/his students. Not fear-based, but approval-based. I would not be surprised if there was a supportive ‘underground’ of students in the shadows. The PTB just found a weak link in one student who could be enticed or threatened, and exploited him. Classic tactics…

The WHO figures on influenza – shown in graph form across all countries – came to a complete halt earlier this year. They just stop and the rest of the graph for this year is blank. Its patently obvious what’s going on.

  21. FiatLux on December 2, 2020 at 6:25 am

Nor is this the first time someone has pointed out an anomalous drop in deaths from causes other than Covid. Just check the stats on influenza. I guess Covid is a cure for the flu! The “explanation” given for why the article was taken down is… amusing? The explanation does not challenge a single point made in the article. Not one.

The only surprise here is that there remains a student at a major American university capable of rational, logical, and critical thought.

    • FiatLux on December 2, 2020 at 8:48 pm

Oh dear… the author of the retracted article is a Ph.D.? I guess the surprise is that she dared attempt to publish inconvenient data. Kudos to her!
