SATANISTS CLAIM ABORTION IS PART OF THEIR RELIGION
Well, in the wake of the US Supreme Court's decision to reverse Roe vs. Wade, you just knew this one was coming(article courtesy of V.T.):
The Satanists claim, on the basis of their being an "officially recognized" religion, that they have the right to practice abortion:
The Satanic Temple issued a statement after the court ruling was release insisting that it is recognized by the IRS "as a religion," and since it considers abortion a religious "ritual," those procedures must be allowed under federal law.
"TST members should be permitted a religious exception to perform TST's religious abortion ritual," the organization stated.
"In states that continue to provide abortion services, we will take steps, including legal action, to ensure our members do not have to endure hindrances to access," the organization said in a statement. (Italicized emphasis added)
My response to this story was pretty much the same as what yours probably is, dear reader: abhorrence and disgust. Indeed, anyone who manages to retain any semblance of human normalcy is rightfully repelled and justly nauseated.
However, as I thought deeper about this, I realized that in fact the Satanic temple is merely saying what I and others began to say almost immediately after Roe vs. Wade came out: that the whole practice would eventually lead to a "right" to sacrifice any child, and ultimately at any age. It is intriguing that as the Supreme Court's decision to reverse Roe Vs Wade grew nearer with a clear track of cases indicating it would reverse its decision, that some states moved to make post-birth "abortions" - infanticide - legal.
There were those of us way back then, and I was one of them, who viewed the whole thing as the return of human sacrifice under the guise of a multitude of modernist platitudes and progressivist rationalizations. Surely we modern men have advanced and "progressed" beyond the primitivism of blood sacrifices to appease the bloodlust of the gods? Not so.
But the answer of the Satanic Temple is that they "should be permitted a religious exception to perform TST's religious abortion ritual." Note also, they do not specify any term limit on that ritual...
In other words, they have an actual ritual for the sacrifice of a child.
And that, for me, clarifies what this has ultimately been about all along: the return of ritual human sacrifice.
It also clarifies in whose name and service the practice was being advocated and done.

Since COVID started, I have been researching psychopaths and sociopaths and contemplating the dilemma of what humanity should do with 1) the small percentage of the population that are genetic psychopaths and 2) the sociopaths that were ‘created’ by such life experiences as a being raised by a psychopath or a sociopath. I, too, am unsettled by the idea that the government can declare what is moral and immoral. I realize any country’s laws are based on its civilization and culture, and thus there’s no such thing as a legal system not connected to some set of traditional religious or philosophical values. At the same time, a traditional American value (going back to before there was a United States) is tolerance for dissent from the majority’s religious beliefs and therefore, in some sense, from the majority’s moral values. Think the Puritans in Massachusetts or the Catholics in Rhode Island. The American tradition is to allow for peaceful side-by-side existence of people who have different views on fundamental issues that affect their morality.
My opinion is that when it comes to issues involving religious or metaphysical questions, such as whether life begins at conception, the government should stay out of it. If we allow the government to define when life begins, what then stops them from defining when life ends? I fear that opens the door to legalizing, and later promoting or mandating, euthanasia. Who’s to say some nutjob in power won’t decide life ends when you stop producing more than you consume, when you reach a certain age, or at some other arbitrary point?
None of this means I think abortion is good or something that should be encouraged. Part of the government staying out of it would mean no government money going to support it. I am particularly disgusted by the traffic in fetal tissue, which I don’t think should be legal.
The question I asked myself when the SC made their decision was ‘why now’? With the leftists and fems so visible and influential everywhere, why this ‘regressive’ step right now? When the Constitution was written for guidance this matter for life termination within womb likely did not exist.
