TIDBIT: SOME SITE NEWS

Hi folks:

Daniel and I talked today about a lot of issues affecting the site, and we'd like to thank everyone who have given us feedback on the merchandising. We appreciate it! In a couple of months we suspect we'll be able to have a clear picture of how it is shaping up but thus far people seem to be pleased with the items. I myself ordered some tee shirts and am quite pleased with the results.
Our biggest concern is that our bandwidth usage on Vimeo as you know, and it is probably going to be more than vimeo will allow for free and that means we will probably have to bear a big expense to keep vidchats going. So what I'm going to do is slightly change the format yet again, per Daniel's suggestions which I think are sound and which will help immensely. What we're going to do is continue with our short format vidchats as they are now, with questions submitted prior to the chat in the comments area. We're also going to try to keep them about 2 to 2 1/2 hours and length BUT (1) we're going to have to restrict them to twice a month, BUT ALSO (3) I am going to arrive earlier for the "pre-chat" and stay longer for the "post-chat" portions which are conducted simply in the chatroom, and without video or audio feed. So hopefully that will cut down on the massive bandwidth usage, but also maintain some level of the current time commitments to members.

So accordingly, I've revised next month's vidchat schedule, and our first one in March will be on the 10th (on the 10th because they're predicting more severe weather again this Thursday and snows Friday, so I didn't want to schedule just to have to change it again).

Thanks everybody!
