Comet A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) was last month seen from Earth for the first time since the Neanderthals were alive, some 80,000 years ago.
I live about an hour north of Tampa. Just got my power and internet back on today. Lost it due to downed trees and blown transformers. The power company is a co-op and they don’t do a good job cutting the tree limbs out of the lines. Driving around, it’s amazing how many trees are planted right under power lines and grow into them by foolish home owners as well. Probably would not have lost so much power in this state if anyone had any common sense left in government, utilities, and neighbors. It got pretty windy, with gust up to about 60 to 70 miles an hour a few times. Mostly the winds looked like it was only 30 to 50 miles an hour where I was. Have yet to see the news reports so don’t know what happened outside of my own county. Biggest problem was finding gas, very early bumper to bumper evacuees bought it all up in a couple hours and left none for us locals. Port of Tampa got damaged and most of our gas comes from there and what little trickles in gets bought up in a couple hours and you have to wait in huge lines to get any. Some people run out of gas before they can get any. Lots of evacuees also were breaking down and getting stranded because they couldn’t get gas to get where they were going. We got way too many people here in Central Florida and if we ever do get a Cat. 5 to land I predict thousands won’t make it and only those fleeing before it gets anywhere near a cat 5 will be able to get out. Just the rumor of a possible Hurricane makes all the gas disappear real fast before dawn the next day as everyone panic buys. Not in fear of the storm but in fear they won’t be able to get any gas once everyone else wakes up. Not enough gas for even a small percentage to successfully evacuate this area if they ever needed to. Come to think of it the last Cat 5 to hit a few years ago took down just about every tree in it’s path so if one ever hits a in a populated region there will likely be hundreds of thousands of death. We have been real lucky so far in this state.
. . . Although not related and for anyone pulling all-nighters you might be able to catch the [Aurora Australis / Aurora Borealis] as they approximately reach the 30th degree parallel(s) north & south latitudes. It’s a strong Solar emission purportedly energizing them.

It’s an ongoing engineering hobby project, where the aim is a lightweight gear, that is useful, when hiking in the Norwegian mountains.

– Standard 16-20mm plastic tube, super-glued into a T-shape, watertightly enclosed, by standard plastic tube plugs.
– 2 micro bearings 8x14x4mm attached to an 8.5mm aluminium tent pole, will allow 360 degree rotation.
– A 5.5×2.1mm power jack attaches the propeller sunflower, which allows choice of number of propellers, depending on needs.
– The weathercōck’s tail is going to be orange water-repellent kite material, stretched, by a 3mm nylon cable puller, bent, into an aerodynamic and aesthetical shape.
– Miniature step up/down circuits will deliver standard regulated, 5v USB output, to charge a power bank etc, while hiking in Jotunheimen.
If the prototype is successful, I’m going to mass produce my invention, as a very cool thing, for mountain hikers, and moose men alike. I’ve got a big market.
The point is maximum freedom, with minimum effort, and the choice of staying, in the mountains indefinitely, while having plenty of ampere for SW radio.
Final specs are yet to be determined, which is the inventor’s experiment, that is presently in the crucible.
