AI DATA CENTERS: DO THE MATH, THE GRID IS INADEQUATE TO THE DEMAND
We end this week's blogs with yet another important article shared by G.P. (with our gratitude). The subject: the ridiculous power and energy demands of those artificial intelligence data centers, and the hidden implication.

If you've been paying attention, this website and many others have been warning about the galloping power and energy demands all these (not so) "wonderful" digital technologies - klepto-crypto-currencies and AI data centers chief among them - are going to cost. As Catherine Austin Fitts once quipped, these centers have more energy and power requirements than a panzer division. Now Zero Hedge has done some of the math, and it has reached an astonishing conclusion:
With nuclear power restarts and new buildouts years away. We pointed out on Thursday night, "Each 1GW of AI computing capacity costs $50bn to deploy in today's prices, according to OpenAI execs. By 2028, Morgan Stanley projects at least 65 GW of new data center demand. Do the math..."
We were referring to our previous X post about power blackout risks due to the surging new power demand from AI data centers and those that will be brought online in the near-term, colliding with a fragile grid with limited spare capacity.
"There is no way the current US grid can support this," we mentioned on X, commenting on our report for ZeroHedge Pro Subs, titled "Behind The $500 Billion Data Center Boom: Here's Who Makes All The Key Components."

With nuclear power still years away, and with Goldman already warning of "price spikes and power blackouts", the federal government or power grid operators must figure out a cost-effective, scalable energy solution to ensure power prices don't continue spiraling out of control and proper grid stabilization occurs to ensure grid stability amid the AI arms race with China.
Now what all this amounts to is this: (1) the current power grid is simply inadequate to support the power and energy requirements of the artificial intelligence datacenters; (2) this will result in (a) rolling and planned blackouts, and (b) much higher energy prices, both of such an extent that (3) the government will have to step in and figure out a "cost-effective, scalable-energy solution", or to put that euphemism in much starker and more realistic terms, a rationing system super-added to the current regulatory power structure.
And guess who will be at the bottom of the totem pole? Rest assured, it will not be the tech companies. It will be you and me, and (most importantly) all those farmers out there who produce the food we eat, who will be the biggest competitors with the "AI sector." So, to put it country simple: one of the subsidiary motivations for the development of these "datacenters" is simply to create the conditions for a massive government regulatory power over the energy system. Think of it as "O'Bummercare" but not for the health insurance companies, but for the power and energy and artificial data companies. And how will you get to "participate" in the system?
Why... with a digital I.D. of course...
I don't know about you, but kerosene lamps in a sod house with an open pit fire place are looking better and better, because technology, and the government, are betraying humanity.

The micro-reactors will be ‘commercially’ owned and operated for the military.

All that said, it appears the current administration’s long term solution to the AI energy problem is to decentralize and localize the grid and energy production for the general population through the Janus/SMR program and let the AI data centers build mega-energy production centers for themselves. With government funding assistance of course.

Ireland has been pursuing aggressively attracting datacentres, but with no effective strategic or operational plans to increase the unfractured. The cost of electricity has just risen again this month by 10%. Datacentres now account for about a quarter of the national supply, and if the Greens who facilitated datacentres while in government were serious about CO2, then the datacentres are pumping 135,000 tonnes of CO2 (same as 40,000 cars per year) currently with another 40 planned.
