AND JUST IN THE NICK OF TIME, PETER THIEL WEIGHS IN
You may have noticed that we've been focusing on 'Artificial Intelligence" this week, and on its looming implications, few of which, in my personal opinion, are good. Last Wednesday, for example, I argued that the data centers which we see being built all over the USSA may represent the biggest and most gigantic financial fraud and ponzi scheme ever, a veritable carousel of casuistry as AIs buy and trade stocks in each other and create massive financial bubbles, consuming more and more vast amounts of energy and power, and masking the theft of hard assets behind a one-way mirror of a maze of trades executed faster than any human inspector could ever investigate and untangle. It's the ultimate method of data obfuscation and cooking the books. I suggested too that it will be short-lived, but in that short time, will be extremely brutal, inhuman, and anti-human. Indeed, the very electronic, digital nature of this circular ponzi scheme and A.I.-assisted three card monte game is that it will require yet another artificial intelligence to sniff out and detect any fraud, and this will only confuse issues even more, because we already have abundant cases of A.I.s going completely off the rails. It is not a trustworthy technology at any step, and yet, as we also saw in last Wednesday's blog, the Trump administration is staking the country's entire future on it.
And just to drive the point home, V.T. spotted and shared this article, because just in the nick of time, when some people were noticing their sky-rocketing electrical bills (due to the increasing power demands of those A.I. datacenters) Peter Thiel, founder of Palantir, has stepped in to remind everyone that attempting to regulate artificial intelligence could be opening the gates for...

...the Anti-Christ!:
Now, you'll notice that I included the subtitle of this article in the link, because the subtitle allegedly lays out the substance of Mr. Thiel's remarks during his recent conference on artificial intelligence and Anti-Christ held in San Franfreakshow, Looneyfornia. The devil, says Mr. Thiel, promises peace and safety by strangling technological progress with stifling regulation. All of this, we learn in the article, dovetails quite niftily with a group called "ACTS":
The talks have been organised by a collective known as Acts 17 Collective — “Acts” standing for “Acknowledging Christ in Technology and Society”. The nonprofit group was founded last year by Michelle Stephens, a healthcare start-up executive and the wife of Trae Stephens, a partner at Thiel’s Founders Fund, a venture capital firm. Stephens is also co-founder of Anduril Industries, which makes and sells autonomous weapons systems.
There is much to be learned from the rest of the article, but I want to focus on this statement towards the end:
Thiel named the company (ed.: Palantir) after the crystal balls used as “seeing stones” in The Lord of the Rings.
Louis Mosley, grandson of Oswald Mosley and nephew of the late Formula 1 boss Max Mosley, is the head of Palantir’s London office.
Its technology was rumoured to have been used to help locate Osama bin Laden, who was shot dead by US special forces at his hideout in Pakistan in 2011.
Now, beyond suggesting that there may have been a technology used in conjunction with other claims made about locating Osama Bin Laden, which claims included the use of remote viewing techniques, suggesting that there are now possible technological enhancements to those techniques, I want to focus on what those technologies might be. As noted, the name of Thiel's company, Palantir, was taken from J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. The Palantir were the "seeing stones" that enabled wizards to communicate with each other via long distance, a kind of magical closed circuit television. Notice, however, that their uses in the Lord of the Rings were chiefly between the villain, Sauron, a kind of disembodied demon whose only physical manifestation is a burning eye, and Saruman, a wizard who himself is captured and captivated by evil, particularly by Sauron's evil which is somehow able to project itself through the technology of the Palantir.
So in today's high octane speculation, I am bold to suggest that Mr. Thiel is barking up the wrong, and very demonic, tree. He seems to forget a very fundamental fact while he wants to invoke metaphysics and eschatology (and therefore, theology) into the discussion. Firstly, the Greek preposition anti, as in "anti-Christ" can mean two things: an opposition to something or someone, and also an "in-place-of" or "instead of". Obviously, the two are not mutually exclusive as the "instead of" can very quickly develop into "in opposition to." Secondly, Mr. Thiel seems to forget the meaning of "Lucifer" and how it might impact technology. The name simply means "The Light-Bearer", he who bears light, or, if one wishes to expand the symbolism, he who is the master of all electromagnetic phenomena.
So what Mr. Thiel is proposing is that he wants no regulation or limits set on the diabolical Master of electro-magnetic phenomena, and in doing so, he may very well be ushering in what he claims he does not want. Indeed, it begs the question of why people who have warned about the dangers of artificial intelligence, like Mr. Thiel, or for that matter, Elon Musk, who wondered aloud if some "evil entities" might be transduced into our world by A.I., would nevertheless risk pursuing the very dangers they have warned about? Why indeed warn about the potential evils of something, while making the choice to do so anyway?
Theologians have an old fashioned word for this sort of inverted thinking.
It's called heresy.

Being openly atheist and gay, I don’t think Mr. Thiel has any worries about the Antichrist. Ok, he’s obviously lying, but if he has always stated he’s an atheist…why would he pretend to have religious/spiritual concerns?? Some people may say he is just using the religious preoccupations of most Americans to try to gain support for a popular political movement against A.I. regulations which could have his desired effect on the politicians in Washington. However, please allow me to try to imitate Dr. Farrell’s talent for high octane speculation: observing Mr. Thiel’s personal and professional history one can only think of just one reason for his recent lecture mentioning the Antichrist: he’s not a real atheist and, like most of the trillionaire elitist people, he loves the moral nihilism of Luciferianist doctrines and philosophies, being, consequently, just one more Devil’s puppet helping to advance the Antichrist agenda so that his master can come faster and without any constraints.
The key question is can there be ghosts in the machine?

Speaking personally for a moment, I consider the ‘ghost in the machine’ (aka Cartesian dualism) hypothesis is where the West took a wrong turn in its collective thinking. The contrived separation of spirit from matter enabled spirit to be sent up a blind alley in western thinking to be ignored; and, eventually, to be denied altogether. It allowed post Enlightenment thinkers to concentrate on the ‘real stuff’, which was characterised – not as the living and contingent consequence of spirit (God) – but as a dead machine. (And we all know what that has led to). Contrary to what we are constantly being told by all of the ‘experts’, A. I. can never be conscious, by virtue of the fact that it is the latest idolatrous manifestation of the machine.
The question is can AI transduce / conjure consciousness such as that of spirit or demon?
We know that objects and humans can do this with reports throughout history.

1. All the perjury you will commit in the coming year and

Kol Nidre is totally illogical, because, to seek future absolution, for the coming of sins, defeats the purpose of conscience.
Conscience is highly logical, because it allows, autocorrection to occur, and, self-regulation is cost-effective, and profitable.

As I recall in LOTR trilogy, a Palantir also had the Nietzschean functionality to it “if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you.” its metaphysical lesson was simply to never engage with one. As it turns out, in the storyline, it is a force multiplier for fear, repression, hubris and the negative aspects of the ego. A very good metaphor for any AI I would submit. Acknowledging “Christ” in technology should be the red flag even before any associated tech is developed if that is a stated purpose. It seems to me to be that such a motivation is a priori blasphemous and self serving for any putative anti Christ(s).

In all this talk of the Apocalypse, I feel compelled to quote another poem called ‘The Second Coming.’ It was written by the Irish poet, William Butler Yeats in 1919, compiled from an automatic writing session, jotted down by his wife, Georgina Hyde Lees. The poem was finished shortly after the Sykes-Picot agreement was implemented – in geopolitical terms – in 1918. That ‘agreement’ carved up the Ottoman territories in the Levant and Trans-Jordan between Britain and France at the end of the First World War. The Bedouin and other Arab tribes of the region, who had united under the aegis of T. E.
