ANTARCTIC STRANGENESS: NOW IT’S A GRAVITY HOLE?

If you've been around this website for a while you already know that I cannot resist any story about the strangeness going on in Antarctica. The continent shares the odd distinction of having a very bizarre list of people interested in it. It's a list so bizarre that every time I write about Antarctica, I have to mention it, just in case any new readers may be unaware of what a weird group of people have been interested in the place. And here's the kicker: one has only to read the list and compare it to the public explanations given for their interest to realize that the explanations explain nothing, and that the mystery of the continent  - and the people interested in it for whatever reason - continues.  So before we get to today's strange story, here's that very strange list of very weird people who have shown a public interest in that southern polar continent, or who may actually have gone there: (1) Reichsmarschal Herman Goering, head of the WW2 German Luftwaffe, creator of the Gestapo, and sponsor of the 1938-39 German Antarctic expedition (which, we were told, was to find lubricants); (2) Rudolf Hess, Adolf Hitler's "place holder" in the Nazi Party, and himself thus chief of the Nazi Party, and quiet hidden sponsor of the expedition; (3) US Admiral Richard Byrd, leader of the Operation Highjump expedition to Antarctica in 1947, an expedition planned by James Forrestal and Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz; (4) Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin; (5) US Secretary of State John "Ketchup" Kerry; (6) Patriarch Kirill III, Russian Orthodox Patriarch of Moscow (who visited the continent to dedicate the Orthodox chapel there); and last but not least, (7) Prince Philip of Great Britain. It's the sort of list that could appear on a game show question; "What do the following people have in common?" and the answer - for $64,000 - is "Antarctica".  By any lights, it is a bizarre list. And that list indicates that something has attracted the attention of the high and mighty, and they're not talking.

But perhaps this story, spotted and shared simultaneously by S.I., and A.F. (With out thanks!) has something to do with it:

Now They Are Actually Admitting That There Is A Massive "Gravity Hole" Underneath Antarctica?

For me, after years of trying to raise awareness about all the Antarctic strangeness, it is somewhat comforting to know that a sober outlet like Zero Hedge cannot ignore the High Weirdness of the place:

For decades, we were told to ignore any of the strange reports that we were hearing about Antarctica. Experts assured us that nothing unusual was going on and that there wasn’t anything to be concerned about. Of course we couldn’t go investigate for ourselves, because as you will see below, there are 72 areas of Antarctica that only those with a special permit are allowed to enter. And if you try to fly to Antarctica without authorization, you will get into all sorts of trouble.

And of course, the question hovering over all of this, including the strange list of people associated with the place, is "Why?"

It turns out that Antarctica is the center of one of two very major gravitational anomalies on the planet:

Earth may look like a smooth “blue marble” from space, but it’s better to imagine it as a slightly gnarled orange, with an inside that’s firm in parts, but squishier in others. Since the planet isn’t a perfect sphere and its internal density varies across the globe, gravitational pull changes from place to place. Where there’s less mass in the underlying geology, gravity is weaker, and vice versa.

These dips in the gravitational field are formally known as gravity anomalies, but they’re more commonly called “gravity holes”. The largest is found in the middle of the Indian Ocean, spanning over 3 million square kilometers (roughly 1,100,000 square miles), while the strongest is found in Antarctica.

But here's where it gets very interesting, because even Zero Hedge is not buying the "nothing-to-see-here-move-along" explanations from the science community:

A “gravity hole” beneath Antarctica sounds like the plot to a bad sci-fi movie, but it’s a very real situation deep beneath the Earth’s surface stretching back tens of millions of years. The phenomenon thankfully isn’t as apocalyptic as it sounds, either. In fact, researchers say these complex interactions between rock densities, gravitational pull, and sea levels are actually helping them understand how the southernmost continent’s ice sheets evolved, and what their influences mean for the planet’s climate.

Yawn.

That does sound pretty boring.

But could it be possible that there is a lot more to this than we are being told?

Enter more "nothing-to-see-here-move-along" explanation from "the Science", which Zero Hedge was not buying:

It is being reported that the team of researchers that mapped the colossal gravity hole directly under Antarctica was able to use a combination of methods to actually “reconstruct the three-dimensional structure” that exists underneath the continent…

In the study, published recently in Scientific Reports, Forte and Petar Glišović, Ph.D., of the Paris Institute of Earth Physics, mapped the Antarctic gravity hole and revealed how it developed over millions of years. They relied on an Earth-spanning scientific project that combined global earthquake recordings with physics-based modeling to reconstruct the three-dimensional structure inside Earth.

“Imagine doing a CT scan of the whole Earth, but we don’t have X-rays like we do in a medical office. We have earthquakes. Earthquake waves provide the ‘light’ that illuminates the interior of the planet,” Forte said. (Emphasis added)

So in other words, the "gravity hole" anomaly led to a modeling of the interior structure of the planet, and that implies we're not talking about those simple "inner core, outer core, mantle, crust" cutaway diagrams that we were all taught in elementary school.  This implies something far more detailed and specific, exactly the sort of model one would need to study longitudinal wave propagation through the planet.

Notably, the article then passes from "gravity" and "wave propagation through the planet" to - pyramid weapon hypothesis fans take note - the alleged Antarctic pyramid, which even Zero hedge has difficulty dismissing:

Of course most of the good stuff is in areas where tourists are never allowed, and that includes the colossal pyramid that appears to have been man-made…

I have to admit, the symmetry of that structure is quite striking.

But even though it looks like an ancient Egyptian pyramid, the official story is that this is simply a naturally-occurring structure that was shaped by erosion…

And after that, the article sputters to an inconclusive end.

But for me, the centerpiece of the article, the unusual bit of disclosure it contains, is summed up in that study of earthquake p-waves (pressure, or longitudinal waves of compression and rarefaction) in the planet in relationship to the Antarctica gravity anomaly, for at the very minimum, such study would reveal much valuable information about the relationship of geophysical processes to gravity itself, and all its local acceleration variances. But most importantly - and it has to be said lest the implication be missed - such a study would be vitally important to anyone wishing to weaponize those processes, from Tesla's bold claim to be able to split the planet using his earthquake machine or his wireless power system, to gigantic piles of rock designed to resonate with the planet... And that idea just might in its turn be the explanation for why such a bizarre list of people have expressed an interest in the place.

After all, think about it... Herman Goering, interested in whaling lubricants? Buzz Aldrin or Rudolf Hess, interested in penguins?

I don't think so...
