THE UNITED KINGDUMB: LET’S FEED GENETIC-EDITTED BARLEY TO COWS

This one caught my eye because it seems to be yet another example of how the United Kingdumb (as one of this website's British members, K.B., once put it to me) has gone completely off the rails and is a few flies short of a happy meal. It was spotted by W.G., and I had to blog about it because it hits somewhat close to home, for I was in that country, finishing up my D.Phil., when the first occurrences of Mad Cow disease began to circulate. By the time I had returned to the USA after a white knuckle flight across the pond (I don't "fly" well and flight is always a white knuckle experience, fortunately since the heart attack I've been ordered not to fly, not that it took much convincing) the Mad Cow episodes were in full bloom, with sad stories coming from the U.K. of this or that individual succumbing to the strange malady.
Fast forward a few weeks, and the cause was traced to the way in which the British government allowed its cows to be fed. Quite literally, dead cows were turned into a kind of "Soylent Green" and mixed in to the fodder for the living cows, and the result was the spread of Mad Cow not only to the cattle of Britain but to some humans as well. Fast forward to the covid planscamdemic and the magical potion injections, and a number of strange side effects began to appear, including some that were suspiciously like Mad Cow, not surprising since some of the "secret ingredients" rumored to be in the potions contained elements of human DNA.
Well, once again, the goobernment of the United Kingdumb appears to be ready to sanction the use of its own population as subjects in yet another experiment; this time they've decided to approve the use of genetically-engineered barley to its cattle populaiton, according to this story spotted by W.G.:

In a marvel of modern science not seen since the German higher critics were able to create invisible editors of texts whose existence could only be detected by modern editors(most of them German), according to the article, the new gene-edited barley is not gene-edited at all because only a couple of genes were "tweaked", and in this case, the "tweaking" consisted of turning the genes off:
In an effort to fatten up cows and get them to market faster, scientists have altered the DNA of Golden Promise barley to increase its fat content... [Regulators have approved the feeding of that barley to cows for further studies.] [T]he small increase reduces the time it takes for farmers to raise animals for slaughter and increases the amount of milk and meat they produce to make the industry more profitable.
The gene-edited barley is also able to cut the amount of methane a cow produces, [Rothamsted Research professor/biochemist Peter] Eastmond said... Reducing methane from cattle is a major goal of the industry, and Professor Eastmond estimated his barley could cut the methane output from a single cow by up to 15%.
The two genetic tweaks to the barley are believed to alter the gut bacteria in cows' stomachs and reduce the amount of methane-generating microbes, cutting the cows' emissions.... [Eastmond] is also working on applying the same two gene edits to rye grass to create pastures and meadows which are lipid-rich and calorie-dense. This, he said, could lead to entire fields of gene-edited grass which could be grazed by cows, sheep, horses and goats to fatten them up and cut emissions... "It would be better to have this technology in a pasture grass that's grown to supply the livestock and graze it directly."(Emphasis added)
How wonderful. A genetic edit that it not an edit at all, and it cuts down on cattle flatulence (and is therefore good for climate change which, please note, was very cleverly not mentioned in the article summary though clearly implied). It cuts down on that nasty cattle flatulence by altering "the gut bacteria in cows' stomachs" thus reducing "the amount of methane-generating microbes in the cow's gut."
Pardon me for being the enfant terrible here, but I have to ask: Is that entirely healthy? After all, what makes beef such a clean meat is precisely a cow's digestive system. Reducing microbes would seem - to this hack from South Dakota - to increase the likelihood that diseased meat would enter the food supply. In short: we have no idea how these "tweaks" will work out in long term inter-generational testing(if they even bother)... They might indeed be another case where the "experts" tell us it's all entirely safe to eat(and boy, it sure smells and tastes a lot better)..."follow the science"...
... until the first case of some new pathogen comes along and enters the human population, because humans wanted to play God with the digestive system of cattle. After decades of being told that genetically modified produce was "substantially equivalent" to its naturally occurring counterparts, after the experts told us to follow "the Science" and that the potion injections for covid were entirely safe, you can color me "very skeptical" on the "tweaked barley" and the idea of creating whole fields of genetically modified grasses for them to feed upon.

Gizars – so what is safer to eat. Genetically modified crops resistant to insect infestation, disease, fungus and weeds, or crops that have been sprayed with chemicals – pesticides, herbicides and weed killers such as Thiamethoxam, Chlorpyrifos, Acetamiprid, Dicloran, glyphosate?

I heard even Meghan Merkel organically grows all her own food like all the nobles in the know Harry and her used to rub shoulders with. So do most industrial leaders and Banking Noble families. I heard they only use heirloom seeds as well so that should tell us all something. We need to all start organically growing as much as we can for ourselves like we used to before local governments started outlawing and regulating it once it began to get popular years ago. The class warfare has been raging for centuries with few of the sheeple ever growing any wiser to it even when it’s in their face. Sheeple are too lazy and cowardly to defend their families and themselves from those they perceive as too powerful to resist; but they will fight to their last breath any of their peers that threaten the comfort of their willful ignorance when they point out the obvious to them and demand action to try and stop the attacks. Most that were aware of all this subconsciously but were too tired from their day jobs to spend time in a personal garden of course didn’t help protect the right to do so of the few who grew a garden anyway. They got comfort instead in finally having a legal excuse in not having to find the energy and resource to grow their own. Sheeple seem more concerned with helping those with power over them to organize in keeping their fellow peers from escaping their shared predicament than organizing with each other to stop all the foolishly deniable slow killing attacks on them. Pointing out the foolishness of this to them threatens the comfort of their willful ignorance and ability pretend it’s not happening so beware them siding with the powerful authorities over you to shut you up instead. They often want to get back to all the bread and circuses that help keep them too distracted to think about it as soon as they can.
I must admit I’m guilty of this as well. Got a big yard here in south Florida and I have no regulations where I live. But I have bad allergies to this area and it messes up my sinuses and breathing too much if I’m outside for any length of time. Tropical flora pollen and mold spores along with extreme heat and humidity doesn’t agree with me. But got elderly family that needs me here so can’t move from here just yet. But from what I hear online everyone everywhere seems to be suddenly becoming too allergic to something new outside to stand being outdoors too often or for too long nowadays it seems. What goes up eventually comes down and who knows what’s really in all that extreme levels of jet exhaust we see building persistent artificial clouds over our skies everyday. They could be adding who knows what kinds of chemicals and salts to their fuel for whatever reasons that after burning up would eventually start settling back down to ground to be breathed in. Don’t need sprayers when you got the amount of commercial jet traffic we have flying across all points of every continent. They claim it’s only water vapor however and that it forms persistent clouds because they fly at higher, much colder altitudes now to save fuel than they used to in the past and the water vapor turns to tiny ice particles that don’t quickly melt. When I was growing up the contrails quickly dissipated and didn’t form clouds. Today they say the particles freeze and stay airborne because they are so tiny and thus form long lasting clouds. But what they fail to mention is that they add more metal salts to the jet fuel to keep it from getting too sluggish from the extra cold temps at these higher altitudes. And when these metal salts burn up with the fuel it likely creates much more ash than past flights did that eventually come down. If the salts are sulferous then you get metal oxide ashes and tiny droplets of sulfuric acid when the sulfer oxides mix with water vapor. There is a tremendous amount more of jet traffic today than when I was growing up. Can’t stop progress but progress seems to be doing a good job of stopping us.
Anyone for our rulers is out to take us all to hell. Maybe a fallback since there has been no major War Of The Folowers to offer up to the gods since there hasn’t a major planetary war since 1945.

Perhaps, the ancient Persian-Iranian idea, that defines the original ‘paradise garden’, is about the vegetative transformation, of man himself, by self-cultivation – in the Scriptures.

The article says the barley Is “modified” by switching off two genes in its DNA but it is not considered “to be genetically modified.” Did George Orwell write this article under a pseudonym? If we went into a meat-making factory and turned off some switches involved in its normal meat-making production, are we going to get normal meat? It promises to make more milk and meat faster, with a couple Genes switched off? And the bovine farts less? Indicating something is not normal with its meat-making and milk process otherwise known as being a cow. (By growing faster it can be slaughtered sooner, shortening its life as a fart factory, making its lowered methane production a win-win. But is that like a magician’s act of distraction or misdirection to enable him or her to fool the audience? When we should be focused on – what is the nature of the food-meat resulting from this switched-off barley. Or Dodgy Barley, per Maria.)
This reminds me of the L-tryptophan litigation years ago. A manufacturer altered their production methods and the result were thousands of cases of eosinophilia-myalgia syndrome. What did they do? They radiated the bacteria that produced the L-tryptophan – an amino acid found in milk and turkey – to make more of it and at a faster rate. Sound familiar? But their process also produced analogs of the amino acid – slightly altered versions of the amino acid molecules – and when consumed by people, their bodies reacted to these altered molecules, rsulting in sickness, long-term illness, and death.
Corporations will cut corners and do whatever to increase profits. In an ideal world, Government regulation of businesses helps to maintain the purity of our food supply. Cue the laugh track. Dodgy Barley. Bad food is a feature, not a flaw. Between the GMO corn, highly processed foods, soft drinks, meat hormones and whatever, and bread and grain hybrids that now cause intestinal and other negative reactions, the question facing grocery store shoppers is – Food or Not Food?
I think the idea of poisoning their own populations while making money is the business model, It’s not a flaw it’s a feature.

So… where does one begin…! Back to Mad Cow disease… Best theory I heard was that the increase in the use of neurotoxic pesticides on the cows directly caused the brain damage that was then called Mad Cow Disease… This was borne out by organic farmers at the time, having no incidences of the problem and the noted increase in government requirement for more pesticide. You can’t “catch” Mad Cow, it is a poisoning. Don’t get poisoned, you won’t get the disease. The same symptoms are found in humans who have been exposed to the pesticides, but not to the cows.
So fast forward to dodgy Barley… There are obvious and not so obvious problems with that… The less obvious is that the bacteria in the gut of the cow is what the cow actually eats. We all think that cows eat grass, well actually cows ingest grass and the bacteria in their complicated gut system digest the grass and when they die off the cow digests them and that’s what “cow” is made of. So… change the bacteria and change the cow. Including the milk and the meat and the cow’s ability to carry out normal physiological function on a day to day basis and who knows what it will do to the next generation of cows and people…. Bovear is killing cows now. So.. this fiddle with the barley will not go well. Though, of course, the Ministry of Agriculture will lie about it, putting small farmers out of business and poisoning the populace.
I’ve never been in the UK and probably never will be. But I grew up on a dairy farm and remember as a kid in school the farm magazine articles arriving to home about the foot and mouth outbreak in England. They showed a picture of a cow foaming at the mouth. Okay. I looked at that newly printed magazine picture and thought, I’ve seen that before. Dug out the old and I mean ancient, dairy magazines that someone had kept from years and years before. There was the picture. Same cow. Long dead, if not of illness, then natural death of age. Same cow. I wrote to the new magazine issue and asked what’s going on? That cow is several decades old in your magazine. And if foot and mouth disease is so prevalent in Great Britain, why isn’t there someone on site with a camera and taking a new picture? I mean farmers were still on their farms. Someone could take a new picture and sell it for distribution. “You caught us,” they said. “It was just easier to use an old file picture than take the effort to go and get a real picture of what is happening now.” Uh huh, I thought.
