RUSSIA AND INDIA INK DEFENSE LOGISTICS DEAL

Regular readers of this website, and listeners of my various interviews (and in particular my appearances with Catherine Austin Fitts' Solari Reports quarterly wrap-ups) may recall that some years ago I blogged and spoke about a logistics treaty that had been signed by Japan and India. In essence the treaty stated that if either nation were attacked the other nation would lend it "logistical support", i.e., that the other nation would function as its creditor and supply house to maintain whatever conflict was in the works. Crucially, I observed two things about the agreement: (1) that it was very obvious directed against China, and (2) that it doubtless included a very secret protocol that all financial valuations of that logistical support, and the financial clearing such support involved, would bypass the dollar completely, and be dually denominated in Indian rupees and Japanese yen. the logistical treaty, in other words, was about dual clearing, and bypassing the dollar entirely as a means of settlement, and that for the security purposes of the two nations. And as far as the first point was concerned, that it was directed against China, this also involved some nuance, for it indicated that within the umbrella of the BRICS nations, "regional" and bilateral agreements could still emerge. And regarding Japan, I've maintained ever since the diplomatic efforts toward Russia of the former and late Japanese premier Shinzo Abe over a decade ago that Japan was the counterbalance - as far as Russia was concerned - to the juggernaut of China sitting right next to almost-empty, and resource rich, Russian far eastern Siberia. Japan had, and has, both the technological and financial muscle to enable Russia's dreams to build out the region's infrastructure, and Japan, in turn, gets a nearby source of energy not subject to potential Chinese interdiction. Nothing in that long-term geopolitical realignment has changed.

The New Russian-Indian Military Logistics Pact Sends Five Messages To The World

Note that the article in the main confirms the geopolitical analysis I made with respect to Japan, India, and Russia over a decade ago, and indeed, given this recent pact, elaborates that analysis in new directions and implications. The first is that the treaty is very similar to the one between Japan and India some years ago, but with one difference: India will be allowed to station some of its troops in Russian Siberia, and Russia is allowed a similar ability to station troops in India. This means in turn that Russia is acting in the long term to divert dependency on China:

Russia’s legal information portal recently published the details of last year’s “Reciprocal Exchange of Logistics Support” (RELOS) military logistics pact with India. RT’s Air Marshal Anil Chopra (Retired) wrote a detailed analysis about it here, drawing attention to how it “allows for the simultaneous deployment of up to 3,000 troops, five warships, and ten aircraft to be stationed on each other’s soil.”

Not only does this signal that Russia is not quite the Chinese vassal state that the Western media makes it out  to be, but more significantly, the move is again being done with an eye to Russia's potential coalescence of interests with the other far eastern powers, namely, Japan and Taiwan, and through them, rebuilding a bridge to the United States:

3. Massive Japanese, South Korean, & Taiwanese Investments Might Follow

The Russian-US “New Détente” that’s being negotiated could see phased sanctions relief after the end of hostilities with Ukraine, which could lead to massive Japanese, South Korean, and Taiwanese investments in the resource-rich Russian Far East that Moscow just signaled isn’t a Chinese fief as some claimed. Knowing now for sure that Russia isn’t a Chinese vassal or on the way thereto as explained, they might then feel more comfortable investing at scale there, thus accelerating Russia’s “Pivot to Asia”.

Here it is important to stress that the long term economic and geopolitical interests of Russia, Japan, and Taiwan coalesce with or without the support of the United States, and this is particularly so given the efforts that have been seen recently on the part of the United States to secure and expand its direct hegemony in the North American region particularly vis-a-vis Greenland, Canada, Venezuela, and Cuba. The current inability of the American military and its diplomatic efforts to bring about the collapse of the Iranian regime only underscore this point, and the longer that it takes for the USA to extricate itself from that situation, the stronger the incentive for Russia and Japan to come to  more concrete arrangements regarding Japanese finance, investment, technology, for access to Russian energy will be.

And there's another long-term conclusion lurking in this Russo-Indian agreement, and it cannot be more aptly expressed than the way the article itself concludes;

These five messages collectively show that Russia isn’t at risk of becoming a Chinese vassal nor is India at risk of becoming an American one. To the contrary, they’re once again relying on one another to preemptively avert the aforesaid scenarios through the strengthening of their complementary balancing acts, which takes the form of RELOS in this example. That military logistics pact therefore accelerates multipolar processes and thus reduces the chances of a future Sino-US bi-multipolar world order.

And just as I argued in the case of the Japanese-Indian logistics pact of some years ago, you can bet that there are secret - and probably not-so-secret - protocols about how such logistical support is to be valuated and cleared, and you can bet your bottom dollar that it will be in rubles and rupees, no dollars invited...
