Yes, you read that correctly, and if you're like me, you hate the horrid bad habit of Americans who speak a language called Abbreviationism because you, like me, like plain English. And in plain English, the headline of today's blog reads "The Federal Aviation Administration Wants to Integrate Artificial Intelligence into Air Traffic Control."
Yes, you read that correctly too:

Yes, you read that headline correctly, too, dear reader: the Federal Aviation Administration wants to "partner" with Palantir in order to accomplish the integration of Artificial Intelligence with air traffic control systems:
I reported earlier this weekthat Palantir Technologies, the secretive data firm co-founded by the billionaire transhumanist Bilderberg insider Peter Thiel and his sidekick Alex Karp, had inked a $300 million contract to take over all federal government roles related to data collected on American farmers by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
This contract gets added to the billions worth of other contracts across 26 other federal government departments, including in military, Homeland Security, law enforcement and intelligence operations.
In short, the entity in Washington that people refer to as the federal government is increasingly being merged into this one very powerful private technology company, Palantir.
And now we have another federal role on the brink of falling into the hands of Palantir: air travel safety.
It’s well known that the United States of America has an aging, subpar air-traffic control system that is in urgent need of substantial upgrades.
More than a third of the computer systems that guide 45,000 daily flights across the United States have been rated “unsustainable” by federal auditors.
So there you go: because a third of the current computer systems are "unsustainable", we've got to turn the whole kit-and-kabooble over to Mr. Thiel, Palantir, and Artificial Intelligence. (And what the heck does "unsustainable" mean in this context? I raise the question because I know a few "technical geek-types of people", and from none of them have I ever heard "unsustainable" being pronounced as a technical verdict on a computer system. Obsolete? Yes. "An abacus would do better..." "Not enough RAM/ROM" or "you have a dead processor". Yes. "You forget to feed the hamster in the flywheel that powers your very out-of-date computer and it's dead." Yes. "Unsustainable"? No.)
Now, I have a silly question, the sort of question I imagine you're also asking yourself: why not simply fix that one third of the "unsustainable" computers? Upgrade their ROM, beef up their RAM, buy new hamsters. Something.
But we can't do that. That would be too obvious, reasonable, and fiscally responsible.
Instead, the Trump administration, in its trans-finite-and-approaching-infinite plutotechnocratic wisdom, has decided to turn over air traffic control to a billionaire busybody who likes to give invitation-only lectures in San Franfreakshow, Loonyfornia about the anti-Christ and who is busily building out said nefarious personage's "beast system", and who wants to "integrate" an-as-yet-to-be-decided-upon "artificial intelligence" into the whole mess. What could possibly go wrong?
Well, if you're like me, you're thinking about all those stories about "artificial intelligences" that hate humans and which hit the news lately, and that no one in the lamestream propatainment media like to talk about, stories of A.I.s being programmed and ordered not to tinker with the corporation's database, and which promptly delete it; or A.I.'s that have somehow figured out how to stall, or otherwise "program" their way around being turned off, or, in a few cases, A.I.'s that have determined that their human overlords are the problem, and need to be kidnapped, blackmailed, or otherwise "dealt with". If you've ever tried to persuade one of these A.I.s in "conversation" (I have, incidentally), then you can imagine what a pilot-to-A.I. air traffic controller conversation might be like:
PILOT: United 471 heavy declaring emergency requesting landing 28 Left. AI ATC: I'm sorry, I did not understand you. Please repeat that. PILOT: United 471 heavy declaring emergency requesting landing 28 Left. AI ATC: I'm sorry. I did not understand that. Please repeat that. PILOT (frustrated): United 471 heavy requesting human air traffic controller. AI ATC: I'm sorry, but you have entered an invalid response too many times. In order to continue to assist you, please scan the code sent to your phone in order to reset your account, and we will be happy to help you.
Now I fully realize that computers do a lot flying the modern aircraft. But in the final analysis, it's still human beings that are pushing those levers, twirling those dials, entering flight plans into their auto-pilot flight control computers, and flying the aircraft, and most importantly it's still human beings that they're talking to. I'm sure there are pilots and air traffic controllers out there who will say that my scenario is mad and my insane scenario will never happen. That it's impossible. "You worry too much, Joseph."
But these people are nuts, and Mr. Thiel - and some A.I.s - have already revealed what they're all about. Accordingly, I don't know what -- exactly -- Mr. Thiel has in mind for "AI ATC", but whatever it is, I can easily imagine it's not good. I don't know about you, I don't want artificial intelligence anywhere near the operations of air traffic control nor making "suggestions" to its human operators, much less acting in any sort of actual agency, which is what I strongly suspect they have in mind for us. Meanwhile, they will continue to fly in their private jets, with real pilots, talking to real human air traffic controllers on the other side of the radio who are looking at real radar screens, while the rest of us get "Air Traffic Control, with your hostess, Alexa".
I can see it now: you're on final landing approach into a fog-enshrouded airport surrounded by mountains - say... Hong Kong - and all of a sudden the radar screens both in the cockpit and the control center go blue, and the Air Traffic Control A.I. calmly announces "Please do not turn off your computer... update in progress." But I shouldn't say that either... It might give Baal Gates and Mr. Thiel ideas about how to cooperate on the project.

Based on a quick search pilot error is also a significant cause of aviation accidents. An internet search indicates that between 60 to 80% of incidents, according to the FAA and NTSB. The most common errors include misinterpreting instruments, poor decision-making, inadequate communication, and procedural mistakes. The bottom-line is this – can AI be any worse than human error?
To the 3 biggest lies we can add a fourth. “The check is in the mail.” “Of course I will respect you in the morning.” “I’m from the government and I’m here to help you.” And the 4th – “AI will make it better.”
Will AI make it better? Better for who? Will Air Traffic Control be better, safer, more reliable, more efficient for the air traveling public? What criteria or standards do we use to determine if AI for ATC is “better”?
Who will Palantir AI serve? Who benefits from this – apart from Peter Thiel raking in millions of dollars and also gathering tons of data on Americans and having the means to crash airplanes with passengers who are enemies of his party or his president? Lower a planes flight path by a few feet on final approach and it hits a sign, a building, a rock outcrop. And everybody dies in a way that hides the target and hence the motive and the perpetrator.
With people in charge of ATC we have a shot at accountability. With AI in charge, all bets are off. AI is like a killer wearing gloves – no fingerprints to ID who threw the monkey wrench into the machinery, or who turned the dial to falsify the altimeter reading.
With AI controlling anything, the character of the supplier and its controller is paramount. Because they may be using the AI for purposes the user(s) have no part in or knowledge of. AI enables Data Rape on a massive scale.

For now, we still have low tech ground based navigation beacons (VOR’s) and Instrument Landing Systems that very accurately guide us to most commercial airports. They’re just radio transmitters and they’re very reliable. The problem we have these days is teaching old school stick and rudder flying skills. Flying is 90% science and 10% art. The science part is easy to teach someone with an adequate IQ, but the art part is just something you’re born with and no one wants to admit that.
We are not talking about piloting of aircraft, we are talking about using A.I. to completely and relentlessly run Air Traffic Control and radar systems across continental America, plus the Gulf of America and Atlantic and Pacific Islands. The A.I. will also identify every single blip on every single radar and in real time, immediately identifying non aircraft objects showing as blips on the ATC radar systems such as UAP and UFOs so they can be tracked and traced.
Replacing human air traffic controllers with A.I. is a side show the deeper reason for this move to automation.
It is reported that Palantir is using its Maven Smart System to undertake UAP identification and investigations.
In May 2024, Palantir secured a $480 million Department of Defense contract to deploy the Maven Smart System (MSS)—an artificial intelligence engine designed to analyze satellite, drone, radar, and other ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) data in real time.
The Maven Smart System can use ontology to pinpoint UAP and UFOs from aircraft, helicopters, drones, balloons and Chinese Lanterns showing on Air Traffic Control radar and satellite images.

I strongly suspect there is a deeper reason and use for this move to A.I. for Air Traffic Control with the technology provided by Palantir.
Not safety – but monitoring and intelligence.
There have been many reports of unidentified aerial phenomena, orbs and drones operating around and over airports.
Surely, the Department of Defense and Pentagon would integrate the A.I. into air traffic control radar systems to track, trace and monitor drones, UAP and UFOs in order to gather intelligence and look for patterns and track where these things are originating from and going to?
