Don’t know where the “King Dollar” author has been living in recent years, talking about “transparent” currency markets that allow the Fed to print to infinity. And the so-called “Brics currency” is actually a settlement system that basically enables countries to bypass the US dollar by and settle their trade bilaterally, starting from oil imports, using their own currency and other components such as gold. For the moment the laregly hypothetical “Brics Unit” is a purely “accounting” creation, like the “lira di conto” used in the old Venetian system. The settlement system at least partially bypasses the dollar-based system with its sanctions/tarrif weaponization. On the other hand, it is true that there are powerful sectors in India worried about having to face the new, genuinely “post-colonial” world that seems to be on the way.
