TROJAN HORSE FOUND?
I cannot help but think of Von Schliemann when I read this story spotted and shared by K.M. In fact, this story is actually a fun story, and yet another warning to those inclined to dismiss ancient epics as not connected to any historical core.
Von Schliemann was the nineteenth century German amateur archaeologist who went entirely against the academic grain of the day, and who thought that Homer's epics about the Trojan War contained a kernel of truth, in this case, that there was a real city of Troy, and that it was located more or less where Homer said it was. While Von Schliemann had misdated his discovery, the fact remains that he had found the ruins of Troy.
Troy was real, not just a myth.
But, where was the horse?
Well, as the article points out, the Trojan Horse part of the Trojan war does not appear in Homer, but rather, in Virgil's Aeneid and other Latin authors.

Turkish archaeologists claim they have found what they believe are pieces of the Trojan Horse. According to a report by newsit.gr, Turkish archaeologists excavating the site of the historical city of Troy on the hills of Hisarlik have unearthed a large wooden structure. Historians and archaeologists think what they have discovered are remains of the legendary Trojan Horse.
The excavations brought to light dozens of fir planks and beams up to 15 meters (49 feet) long. The remnants were assembled in a strange form, that led the experts to suspect they belong to the Trojan Horse. The wooden structure was inside the walls of the ancient city of Troy. Historians suggest that the ancient writer was using the image of the horse as an analogy for a war machine, or even perhaps a natural disaster.
But there's more argument that the discovery could be the infamous horse that brought down invincible Troy:
The structure found fits the description by Virgil, Augustus and Quintus Smyrnaeus. So archaeologists have started to consider that the discovery is indeed the remains of the subterfuge Greeks used to conquer ancient Troy.
Another discovery that supports the archaeologists’ claims is a damaged bronze plate with the inscription “For their return home, the Greeks dedicate this offering to Athena.” Quintus Smyrnaeus refers to the particular plate in his epic poem “Posthomerica.” The plate was also found on the site.
Additionally, carbon-14 dating has placed the remains in roughly the time period for the war:
“The carbon dating tests and other analysis have all suggested that the wooden pieces and other artifacts date from the 12th or 11th centuries B.C.,” says Professor Morris. “This matches the dates cited for the Trojan War, by many ancient historians like Eratosthenes or Proclus. The assembly of the work also matches the description made by many sources. I don’t want to sound overconfident, but I’m pretty certain that we found the real thing!”
If all this should eventually prove to be the case - and as of this writing, it looks persuasive - then it's another subtle blow against the idea that all such ancient texts are just a kind of "epic science fiction and mythology," and that there might be historical cores to many such texts. But on the other hand, these still have to be handled on a case to case basis.
Somewhere, Von Schliemann is smiling.

Anyway, even more interesting is what happened to the Pergamon Alter / Alter of Zeus. I think this warrants a detailed review and discussion by Joseph, as it is now in Berlin at the Pergamon Museum and closed since 2016 to the public until 2024 for “renovation”. Although many people wonder if this is really the reason why it is closed!

The timing of events supports this, as Trojan Horse could be being used in a double-entendre manner. And then there’s the term “Posthomerica,” which almost sounds like “post-America” or “posthumous-America.”
Of course, this could be merely pareidolia.

Troy is the second seaport, next to Jerusalem, that plays a part, in the development of the Druid-Scythian ideology.
After 715BC, only Troy would have provided passage to Britain, since Jerusalem was de facto under Assyrian control.
When Troy falls, the Greco-Roman sea powers dominate the Mediterranean, and Scythians take to the rivers, up north.

I have seen many documentaries on the Troyan War upholding the truth of both the Illiad and the Odyssey. If the story is true it only confirms the reality behind mythology which is the history the Ministry of History has failed to destroy because they thought nobody would take it seriously enough to find the fire behind the smoke. By the way the Greeks of the Bronze Age called themselves Achaeans and Greece Achaea.

What an unexpected surprise, if the Wood Horse has indeed been found. The Aeneid speaks of it and the once rumored but then discovered Laocoon has pointed at its existence, but if it has survived even in part it seems a miracle. Even after Plutarch tells us how Alexander passed the Hellespont and went to Troy where he sacrificed to Minerva, honored the fallen heroes with libations, and anointed the gravestone of Achilles, we doubt the truths of the Pre-Christian past, a past Christianity sought to dominate and destroy. What drives our desire to discredit the past? To destroy the Temple of Serapis and burn the Great Library of Alexandria, to destroy the accumulated knowledge of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, and more, to demonize it all and replace it with one book – the Bible. So by all means, may the Wood Horse be resurrected and may it, and Hector, breaker of horses, be remembered.

Yes Haw! Also, as an aside, Alexander was reported as one with extraordinary ability with horses. Came in handy considering his short stature and distances traveled. Then he discovered elephants in India. The rest, as they say, is history.
As I recall, Lactantius, an early Christian apologist, wrote of the Trojan war as if it had really occurred, and somewhat later, as I recall, so did St. Augustine. Perhaps they were a bit more ambivalent regarding ancient myths than you give them credit for. But if, as you say, Christianity was intent to “dominate and destroy,” then it would seem to be a pitiful effort if only the Library of Alexandria was involved in replacing all the old books with just the bible. The book burning piles for Homer should have been lit in Constantinople and all over the Empire, should they not?

Billy Carson has done with his life what I wish I could have with mine…..he has read the majority of the Ancient Manuscripts & books to come up with a more rounded picture of our past!! I think I sent the article in as well (I sent it to several people) and I have some professionals looking into this. So far they have been unable to find actual papers, links, or even information on the dig in question.
Which doesn’t mean it isn’t a real discovery, but it does mean the press release may have come out before anything official has been written up about it.
A lot of stuff tends to come out in the following Spring or early Summer when the excavation reports from the previous season get written up and published.
I hope it is real (or even a Roman Era Hoax – “Ladies and Gentlemen please h come to Troy and see the real trojan horse for only a Dracma!”
But what I really hope is that they found it and that once again – Homer was right!

1. One can go with Heinrich Schliemann, and wonder, if myths are real or not.
2. One can go with Herodotus and Euripides, and investigate, what criminality the myths are covering up.

Sometimes the metaphor works better in the story; sometimes the real myth is better; sometimes , you can’t beat them both being true.
I was thinking of this a few. days ago. I thought, the further back in time one goes; those metaphors and objects associated w/them, were truly lost in translation. Meaning, that both the metaphor and the object may have been totally skewered from reality.

By time, I mean not the recent time of Trojan Horse; I mean the truly ancient times. I think Dr. Farrell described them as “paleoancient”; as in Cosmic War[s], and as Dr. Farrell described them – in terms of “symbols”.

about the phenomena of: “lost in translation”; especially, in respect to time.

Ah, historians… clutching the myth of eternal linear progress… basking in the hubris of a modernity that sees itself as the height of human evolution. I can think of few wilder imaginings than the idea that the Trojan horse was “an analogy for… a natural disaster”!
A second edition of “The Trojan War of 650BC” by Wilson and Blackett was published last year. They make the case that the mainstream dating and much else are wrong.

I love history and archeology. I love it when the old stores are proven accurate against the prevailing tide of academic priggishness. If this discovery is the real deal —I would like to see more about it. The horse was a widespread cult object so finding pieces of a statue – large ones would have been hollow – is not very surprising.
