After 2008-2009, my attorney told me to stop banking with the big corporate banks. I promptly closed my accounts and opened up at a credit union. Many of the credit unions have cooperative banking (they “branch” one another in essence), and they all offer credit cards and all the other regular services you’d expect from any bank. I’ve been extremely satisfied with the service, their fraud alert system and customer service. I’m a much more satisfied customer than I was before and they even alert me to changes or potential changes in regulations that might affect me.
