    I don’t believe aliens would be so stupid as to do something over which they had no physical control. Unless they were teenage aliens. Containment and monitoring seems to be the best option; keep the earthlings at a certain technological level with no means of further development, then they could bargain from a position of inference with earthy elites who would be the ones to do all the dirty work.

    The abstract sounds more like a soap opera than serious scientific study. Except it all sounds so familiar.
    Alien AI could trick us into releasing nanobots to cure cancer but then nanobots end up destroying us. Why are the aliens so often portrayed as evil?
