    It will be interesting to see in the next weeks leading up to the EU Parliament elections just how (or if) the pro-Brexit people in the UK, and the Euroskeptics elsewhere, will be discussing the “German Question”.
    I suspect that many of them will prefer not to “rock the boat” too much with thorny issues like nuclear weapons (that means discussing NATO!) and UN representation; big issues which have a very muted coverage in public discourse in Europe and the UK.

    I think we are looking at a final break-up of all of the post-WWII structures – including financial. Think of it: We are at the point where over seventy years have passed; that’s nearly four generations. Everybody in a senior position in those years has passed. The world is ready to move on…

    Thus, we have innumerable cracks in the dike. No one (except the PTB, in their dreams) knows what the world will look like when the dust settles. But everyone can feel the incipient shift, and so is agitating for their piece of the pie – Germany included.

    Me? I am holding-out for a reverse “Tower of Babel moment”…

        ZDB, thanks. I read The Fourth Turning shortly after it came out, and was quite impressed by the ‘cycle’ (at least in America): two generations of strong polarization – one oriented towards the spiritual and one towards the material – with two in-between generations that were each strongly effected by the preceding strong-polarization generation. That made perfect sense, as a ‘deep’ understanding of the forces in play.

        Where it got interesting is where the authors stated that we were in a unique environment: In earlier times, the last of the fourth-generation-prior had effectively died off before the succeeding group of that orientation took stage. That made for an ever-running ‘cycle’, for better and worse.

        Thanks to recent advancements in health, that is no longer the case. The ‘old’ 4th-gen overlaps with the ‘new’ 4th gen. So, the wisdom of the previous 4th-gen could be combined with the vigor/vitality of the incoming 4th-gen. We might see some interesting Fourth Turning behavior, this time…

    When are these politicians going to learn about NUUKS. If you are going to fire off a nuuk, you can be pretty sure that you are going to get one back very soon. Just consider the “amount” of nuuks in the world, one wonders why countries have to have “hundreds” of these death bombs……..go figure !!!!!!
