   Thanks I really enjoyed these two. Durban is an hour and a half down the road from where I live. Here is a paragraph from a report in Press TV it explains why Africa is turning away from the IMF and World Bank and towards BRICs.

   “In 2008, a consortium of Chinese companies were granted the rights to mining operations in Katanga in exchange for $6 billion in infrastructure investments, including the construction of two hospitals, four universities and a hydroelectric power project, but the International Monetary Fund intervened and blocked the deal, arguing that the agreement between violated the foreign debt relief program for so-called HIPC (Highly Indebted Poor Countries) nations. ”

   However, many South Africans are nervous about the Chinese involvement in Africa. In chat rooms you get comments like:

   “More often than not, the Chinese are willing to pay bribes to those in office to get whatever business licence or favour they require.” By contrast, American and some Western corporations are bound by ethics codes barring them from such behaviour.”

   Our press is also controlled, South Africans have no idea what is going on in the USA. and how the military industrial complex controls congress.

   This person knows nothing about Banker Bailouts, Libor, gold and silver manipulation and certainly nothing about 9/11.

   “For me it is quite clear – The West is not ‘lecturing’ Africa – but, in fact, advising them ….It seems like lecturing because everybody in the West is saying the same all the time – because “it’s the way it’s supposed to be done – with work and integrity” .”

   This person has no idea about the Fed, Homeland Security, 1.6 billion hollow point bullets, food stamps, FEMA camps, Afrikom, or that China has bought USA debt to the tune of trillions.

   “I must say you are smoking some good stuff, the US has the largest economy in the world. China didn’t go nowhere until the US open her door to this country for trade. In Brazil, the US was the country that developed this country offshore oil with her capital and technology. The multi national mostly the US companies are all over Brazil, and the Brazilians wanted more companies to come. Zuma is running around talking about the US and this country should be trying to increase her trade with the US. The state of California that has thirty million people has an economy larger than all of black Africa with a billion people. This state has an economy of 2 trillion dollars a year. Many companies in the US are making billion spreaded around the world. Many of these companies have an income larger than many states in Africa. I think you should put your money in yuans instead of dollars. Finally, many people are alive in Africa because of the care packages of US food.”

   I think it has not dawned on them that BRICs is not only China, but Russia, Brazil and India.
   We already have close ties with India due to a large and thriving Indian community in South Africa, and Ghandi played a major role in Anti Apartheid movements before he went to India. In 2009 “The most lucrative cricket tournament in the world was moved to South Africa after the Indian government conceded that it was unable to guarantee security in that country, due to elections taking place in India at the time, and following a terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan national team in neighbouring Pakistan in March.”

   Am I nervous? Yes. This is a whole new ball game far removed from the Anglo American one we are used to. I am sure it will not be perfect, nothing is. Criminals come in all shapes and sizes. And all nationalities. I am however learning Chinese.
