AN ENGINEERED FERTILIZER SHORTAGE?

As  we're contemplating what appears to be a somewhat engineered "supply-chain" disruption, this disturbing article from one of my favorite researchers, F. William Engdahl, was spotted by M.W. and passed along. It's worthy of your attention:

Now the Organized Take-down of the Global Fertilizer supply?

Mr. Engdahl zeroes in with his customary focus on the nature of the problem:

Ammonia-based fertilizers made from nitrogen (most of our air, so never in shortage) and natural gas or methane (CH4) make up almost 70% of all fertilizers used to support major agriculture crops such as wheat, corn, rice and even coffee. As natural gas prices have soared by anywhere from 300% to 500% over the past months, this has had a devastating impact on world fertilizer production where some 80% of the cost of making ammonia fertilizers is due to natural gas.

When Hurricane Ida stormed across Louisiana on August 25, the largest ammonia factory complex in the world, owned by CF Industries, was closed for safety reasons and only reopened ten days later. Curiously at that point two more factories from the same CF Industries, those in the UK, announced they would close two more fertilizer plants on September 22, claiming high natural gas prices as the cause, despite the fact their Louisiana plant had just been out for ten days. The two plants supply some two-thirds of UK domestic fertilizer demand. The Government was forced to agree emergency subsidies to CF Industries to reopen one of the two plants temporarily to ease the pressures. The combined effect of the three major closures by the same group added to the crisis in world fertilizer supply. It may be just coincidence that the two largest stock owners of CF Industries are Vanguard and BlackRock.

This crisis is snowballing. As of early October reported closures of ammonia fertilizer production had been announced by the giant German chemicals company, BASF, in Belgium and Germany, indefinitely. It also affects production of ammonia-based diesel fuel additive, AdBlue.

Further closings are ongoing in Achema in Lithuania, OCI in Netherlands. Yara International is reducing 40% of its EU ammonia fertilizer production. Fertiberia in Spain is closing a plant along with OPZ in Ukraine, a major fertilizer producer. In Austria Borealis AG has closed production and Germany’s largest ammonia producer, SKW Piesteritz, has cut production by 20%.

...

Today estimates are that perhaps half the global population is dependent on nitrogen fertilizers. According to studies published in the scientific journal, Nature, 48 percent of the world population in 2008 was dependent on nitrogen fertilizers for their daily access to food. “This means that nitrogen fertilizers in 2015 provided food security for 3,5 billion people who would otherwise have starved to death.”

So what, or who, ultimately, is the culprit?

Behind the growing global fertilizer shortage crisis is the five-fold explosion in the price of methane or natural gas as it is usually called. This has its origins in deliberate “anti-carbon” green policies of the Biden Administration and of the European Union with its “Fit for 55” program to cut CO2 emissions by 55% by 2030, including methane or natural gas. The Biden administration has forced disinvestment in USA shale gas, and the forced expansion of highly-subsidized Green Energy such as wind and solar have created an unreliable electric grid. When the wind doesn’t blow or the sun doesn’t shine alternative electric power is missing. Storage is a huge problem. That was not so critical when solar or wind made up a tiny percent of the grid. But today in countries such as energy-dependent Germany, alternatives can make up 42% of gross electric consumption. As nuclear and coal plants are taxed into extinction for the Zero Carbon madness, prices for oil and natural gas are exploding. New investment in hydrocarbon exploitation is collapsing as a result, and supplies limited just when everyone needs it.

The growing crisis in world fertilizer production fits well into the UN Agenda 2030 for “sustainable” (sic) agriculture by which the globalists such as World Economic Forum of Klaus Schwab and BlackRock of Wall Street, the world’s largest private investment fund with a reported $9 trillion in assets it manages, mean dramatic reduction in meat production, replacing it with fake lab-grown meats or even insects as a protein source.

There is a growing demonization of agriculture and especially meat production, claiming it is a major source of global warming. Methane is now a major target of the Green Agenda from the USA and EU. Notably, at the recent UN COP 26 global warming gathering, some 100 nations signed on to a joint EU-US proposal to cut methane gas emissions by 30% by 2030. We can expect to see growing government and NGO attacks on our food system using soaring fertilizer prices, campaigns against meat and demands for “sustainable” agriculture to further raise our now-soaring cost of food. Key to this attack is the Green New Deal war on oil, gas and coal, the low-cost energy system that has been the heart of today’s global economy and escape from poverty since World War II.

In other words, it's all deliberate, folks, and the usual "people" - and I'm using that term loosely - are behind it. In their Malthusian madness, they are willing to turn the entire planet into a charnel house of starvation and genocide while they fly their private jets to their meetings, each having "carbon footprints" bigger than World War Two, eating real meat at expensive restaurants or get their hair done without the requisite face masks.

There's a big problem looming for Mr. Globaloney and these lunatic plans, and that is, as people are waking up to the planscamdemic narrative, they are also waking up to the assault on agriculture and the climate change narrative. Ranchers want to open up local micro-meat-processing plants; Baal Gate's Beyond Meat stocks are declining in value; people don't want to eat crickets.

And that means increasingly people are waking up to the fact that the real problem isn't rising population or climate change or covid...

The real problem is Mr. Globaloney himself.

See you on the flip side...

    Head’s Up!!!

Don’t miss James Corbett’s interview with RFK, Jr. It is very difficult to listen to Robert, but his new book, just out, “The Real Anthony Fauci” should be a Best Seller & continue the Wake-Up Process that is moving across the globe!!

I loved the term used, “Fauci is the J. Edgar Hoover of the Medical Community”. Now that REALLY puts a true spin on what has been going on for decades!! So many good peoples’ lives were ruined because this man needed to cover up his own wrongdoing!!

Plus, we have the Ghislaine Maxwell trial going on….is The House of Cards about to fall!! Speaking of “fall”….Janet’s Part 19 to the Fall Cabal series is an excellent take on how this all happened!!! So many good people trying to help get The Truth out there!!! The least we can do is spread it around, speaking of fertilizer!! 😉

I have heard that there is research being done that will have Cereal grain to fix atmospheric nitrogen. This should reduce the need for commercial produced nitrogen. Hopefully this modification is not given a patent.

For growers to efficiently function in the changing world landscape those who know, or are willing to learn some centuries old techniques will flourish. If done on an annual basis there is NO NEED to buy ammonia based fertilizer made from natural gas. The ‘old fashioned’ agricultural methods to grow crops have largely been cast aside for modern methods by way of the ‘quackery’ taught in so-called institutions of higher learning. Truly smart growers can produce all sorts of healthy, vibrant crops year after year by planting a cover crop of nitrogen fixing plants. Crimson clover, among many others, is an excellent example because it is also very beneficial to honeybees, and they also need our help these days. Crimson clover does not pull nitrogen from the air on its own. They are aided by a common bacteria called Rhizobium, which attaches to legume plants such as clovers, peas and beans. It uses these plants to help it draw nitrogen from the air, and converts the nitrogen gas where it is stored in the roots of the plant as a nitrogen nodule. The process is harmless to the plant but very beneficial to the soil. So the plant and bacteria work in a symbiotic relationship. Living plants release very little nitrogen into the soil, but when plants die and decompose they release the stored nitrogen, thus creating a nitrogen bank deep in the soil. Plus it aids in creating other beneficial factors. So, in death these plants make nitrogen available for new plants during following growing seasons. Many other plants can benefit soils whereby they never need to be plowed, but that can be a topic for another day.

    • Doug Bowersox on November 21, 2021 at 5:40 am

All true. But not sufficient to cover complete needs in many crops. Still need supplemental nitrogen.
Also, where I am. Crop season is too short too double crop so requires year of set a side to do this. You tell my landlord that I need to cut the rent in half to make this work. Rents as is barely cover the taxes on a farm for landlord. But rent is so high for tenant that most of us have barely enough money to survive. Solve that problem.

  7. Richard on November 20, 2021 at 4:15 pm

The latest Agro report suggests that the cost of energy input to producing anhydrous ammonia has gone up considerably making farmers re-think their expenditures for the nitrogen fixator. 2022 could be very different in the fields.

  11. Doug Bowersox on November 19, 2021 at 12:36 pm

I am a central Pennsylvania farmer. Fall 2020, I paid $.98/gallon for propane gas to dry crops. Just paid $2.28. The type nitrogen fertilizer that I use was $175/ ton a year ago. Now is $570. Crop care pesticide that I use was $14/gallon last spring and is now $70/gallon. This is world wide. India has set up commission to allocate what is available to their farms. Food production a year from now will be very curtailed. Meat, poultry, eggs, milk, butter, pasta, bread, cooking oil will be most short. Vegetables and fruits will probably stay available with price increases. Buy an extra can of beans every time you go to the store.

    • Richard on November 20, 2021 at 4:19 pm

The latest Agro report was a stunner where energy costs were concerned. Difficult to hedge when all energy costs are doubling and tripling due to policy stupidity from you-know-where.

Your title succinctly engenders exactly what I though when reading the story!
And your conclusion, just as succinctly; cuts to the real problem:

    Again, eerily this reminds me of what communists do when seizing power;
they kill by starvation, purposed incompetence, and natural ineptitude!

Okay, I know that nobody will want to hear this, although we all need to not fear what’s coming. Fear kills the mind and soul. There will be so much abundance from a world of excess that people will not be starving for anything. Please remember that due to all the death vax that has been taken and still being boostered into the brainwashed and absolute fearful, we will witness a global population death rate of between 30%-50%. In the USA my guess is a death vax population reduction of 30%-50% overall with close to 80% population reduction in the completely brainwashed and fear-based city complexes. I personally know a neighboring family that has had 4 black females died within the last 4 months. Also have 3 friends that their white fathers have died within the last 3 months…all these people have taken the death vax. I also had my cousin (anti-vax, unvaxed, white female) go into the hospital with pneumonia and the hospital declared her to have developed covid while in the hospital. Then they put her on a ventilator, and she refused to die. So, the doctor decided to turn her on her stomach because she had developed sepsis and it took her 5 days before she died from drowning in her own fluids. She was also a huge trump supporter that had a big facebook presence. She died 3 weeks ago.
That comes out to 8 people I know of that have died withing 4 months of each other and 1 degree of separation or less. I have not ever in my life had so many people die around me…even in the military. The point is that we are about to go into a time period that will see so much excess in almost everything that we will be living in total abundance withing the next 2 years. The death vax death rate is accelerating, and people refuse to see it…like several of the people on this site who refuse to see or believe what’s really going on. Currently my wife and I have been paying attention to the farms / houses that have no activity in them at all, which have older owners in a small-town of 2800 people. We think many of these folks have passed away and nobody knows or has checked on them in the last 6 months. Our local cemetaries are very busy and almost to a point of overflow. I’ve been seeing 4-5 buried every weekend over the last 4 months, plus several during the week. In a town where they might have 1 burial per 3 months. My guess is that this phenomenon will become normal soon and eventually normal ways of body disposal will not be adequate due to so many dead. The current projection of dead in the USA alone is 100+ million. The survivors of this death vax holocaust will not be looking for food any time soon. They will be looking to remove bodies and reorganize society with less emphasis on big cities.

According to what I read Nazi was used as a shortening and combination of National and Socialists in German. Since Global government is a union of all the world’s socialist regimes, I think they should be called the Globzi! They call themselves the UN, short for United National Socialists. But that’s insider knowledge and would be too obvious. To the sheeple the claim it stands for United Nations instead of the United Nazis. I will now call them the Globzi; short for Global Nazis.

    • Robert Barricklow on November 19, 2021 at 12:16 pm

      Yes, as my reading Anthony Sutton’s trilogy chilling implied for the future;
a mixing & matching of these governing systems into what “they” termed
a New World Order. An Order, that purposely shuffles their Global Titanic deck, w/fewer & fewer chairs, for those under its stewardship.

One immediately realizes that this was the reason for centralizing agriculture production through chemical fertilizers in the first place.

It’s pretty bad and worse than people think. We’ve had +40% price increases every month for the past 3 months in fertilizers. We use a physical mixture that for the past few years has been hovering around 400-450 usd/mt. By September it was over 800 usd/mt. Today it is over 1000 usd/mt.

If things continue as they have, by February it will be 2000 usd/mt and by April it will be 4000 usd/mt.

Sometime between February and April people will stop fertilizing. By October/November of next year the food supply will have collapsed.

    • eliot on November 19, 2021 at 11:08 am

Hello ATS – thank you for the real world price information. You sound like someone that knows the business. If you planted without any fertilizer, how much would yields be reduced.? Thanks for your time!

    • Awake on November 19, 2021 at 12:54 pm

The food supply for the rest of the world will collapse. The USA farmers produce the vast majority of their crops for the rest of the world and not for just the USA. So what your saying is relevant as to the USA farmer being able to produce enough crops to feed the rest of the world. What’s happening is probably the only way to get the USA farmer to stop producing products for everyone else in the world and begin to solely focus on production of all natural food products for the USA only…as well as locally. Also, a good way to break up the mega Corp farms that are 50% of farming in the USA. Plus, chemical fertilizers are horrible for the dirt and not sustainable in any fashion. There is also the fact that USA farmers are totally addicted to easy, cheap credit and will readily whore out the use of their land to pay for that new $1,500,000 dollar tractor they just bought to plant / spray fertilizer those new crops for China. Farming is very big business in many ways. The old ways need to come back and there needs to be a hard reset or the vast majority of USA farmers will NEVER CHANGE.

    • Nidster - on November 20, 2021 at 5:33 pm

Nothing is hopeless, read my post up near the top of the page. There are many different, and more effective ways to grow stuff. It can be done cheaply, effectively, and benefit your soil, and many living organisms. Folks need to start re-thinking the ‘accepted’ ways, and start with the ‘best’ ways. When given some thought this current situation can be turned into a true blessing for folks like us.

  19. Zorost on November 19, 2021 at 5:18 am

Scary stuff. But so what if people are waking up? We have no means of fighting back currently. Until we control local and state govs that have the ability to raise troops to fend off federal overreach, all we have is protesting, voting, and individual acts of violence. The elites laugh at the first 2, and the latter is such a weak threat that they manufacture individual acts of violence for their own purposes.

    • KSW on November 19, 2021 at 9:17 am

You can fight back, but they don’t want you to know that you can … this needs to really sink it. Buy from local farmers and meat growers – find local markets. Buy/Store organic and heirloom seeds. Learn how to garden. If you don’t have a garden space, learn how to grow in containers or using the Kratky hydroponic method. Learn to sprout seeds – there is more nutrition in sprouts than just about any other green food. If you live in an area that allows chickens, buy some and learn how to raise them in a healthy way – an egg a day. Don’t buy GMO foods (get a list online) – it’s more healthy and safe to eat at the edges of the grocery store rather than the isles – meat, vegetables, and fruit that isn’t packed with artificial ingredients. Get a solar powered generator like Bluetti or Jackery. Buy bulk grains and seeds and slowly wean yourself off of mass-produced packaged foods … when shortages happen you’ll be glad you did because you wont’ be craving junk foods. Know that your taste buds will take time, but they will adjust to less salt, sugar and artificial flavorings. USE CASH as much as possible to help all of us from becoming digital currency slaves. When you prepare yourself for hardship, it’s not so hard.
