   In an oecumenical sense, that is Constantine vs. the Praetorian Guard, and the former dismembered the latter.

   In one’s view, (like you) the War (Cold War) never ended. Merely a change in flag colors and a strengthening of Soviet type Komitet Gosudarstvennoy Bezopasnost (KGB) under Putin. A massive build up. What one wonders is what else will be on the itinerary for the upcoming Eastern Orthodox Liturgics 8 May-10 May. “Who and what are compromised? And by how much and by whom?” will pan out in banner headlines during another propagandized event staged for show with real consequences.
   Noticeable was what happened to another airport with the losses of missile launchers.
   Knowing the inner workings of former oppressors gives those formerly oppressed parties (former Soviets) that oppose the Silovik in Charge and Kremlin early warning of sabotage, election interference, and especially, political assassination agendas, having witnessed that control firsthand. Their experience with [active measures] over the last half century or so has allowed for them to get a handle on specially formulated actions within and outside the Motherland to only arriving at attempts thus far. They probably lost count already of previous attempts, probably why they’re quiet about previous attempts.
   One only need look at the recent claims of Russian operatives discovered within Germany attempting sabotage at military facilities. Any weapons training, logistical support, and personnel support are likely ready targets according to the Kremlin and President Putin.
   To expand on that, talking points, Kremlin grown, are clearly within the US with political elites and many more tainted; also in the UK, Canada, Poland, and other NATO allied nations and spread around as if to become normalized through repetition. Even buzz words for ease of spreading and setting the meme and narratives.
   President Zelenskyy has made an effort to make sure his media televised sessions are well distributed much to the chagrin of restrictive countermeasures by Kremlin operatives and sympathizers.

     Putin, an avid media TV watcher, like many Russian Oligarchs & Siloviki within the CHEKA fence line, get most, if not all, of their insights from the outside world through the state channel allowed when not tempting personal exposure with their own forms of communication channels. One of the reasons the populace seemed well controlled with an extended and reinforced Soviet type KGB officer ((early CHEKists (first of a succession of Soviet state security organizations from 1917 – CHEKA) formerly KGB; FSB now) watching the watchers. Usually hidden in plain sight with ready-made plausible deniability built into any [active measure] taken. Despite this capacity they’re getting messier and sloppy, probably because of changes in communication methods. The metaphors and euphemisms are nearly always ephemerally placed to further imply action as well as useful intelligence to expand on for insider CHEKists. Many of the doers and users make gifted story tellers, too, a euphemism for propagandists. (Now, if only they could get their histories correct after becoming a legend in their own minds)
     President Putin had a story about a cross he held onto when he was a boy surviving a fire that consumed his boyhood dacha. He told such a story to former President George W Bush (June 2001) just before Bush’s mentioning, . . [“I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy. We had a very good dialogue. I was able to get a sense of his soul; a man deeply committed to his country and the best interests of his country.”] that made a portion of history no one expected. Putin was already phishing for details in how he could use Bush in his plans to rebuild the Soviet Empire. . Later that year, September 11, (9/11) happened. Security measures increased and were newly started for all sorts of troublemakers, new and old. A few things found out about overseas plans for the US and the origins of some of the secret keepers for dirty deeds. None were amused. Still are not.
     President Putin had a plan then and still does, like the Party of the east by going west has regarding hegemony believing it is in the best interests of the motherland as he sees fit. The rest is tit-for-tat opportunism when it occurs. His operatives seem to be getting tagged for what they are sooner than expected to be found out. A spy vs spy game for keeps many more are catching on to. One assassin might be better than the next assassin, but they’re both assassins with their handlers driving the narratives and baiting the susceptible. A very sophisticated menagerie these days if not an expansive one.
