Ms. C.W. sent this one to me, and it's another one to file in your transhumanism scrapbook. Before we get to it however, you'll recall that one of the things I talked about in Genes, Giants, Monsters and Men, was the implication that if there was genetic engineering involved in any genome or sequence, it was subject to patentability under U.S. law. This one comes courtesy of Ms. P.H. and it's what my friend George Ann Hughes would call a "whopper-doozie." Recently as most readers of this site are probably aware, President Obama made a statement in behalf of a multi-million dollar project to map the human brain and its functions. We were re-assured that this would be a step towards the healing of neurological diseases such as Alzheimers' and Parkinson's.
